Why does the skin flake on the palms. Causes. Methods of treatment

If the skin is flaky on the palms, first of all it is necessary to establish the cause of this unpleasant phenomenon. The most common of these is inadequate hydration. If you are sure that you moisturize the skin of your hands enough, pay attention to the soap that you use daily, perhaps the reason is in it.

Soap with deodorizing or antimicrobial effect in the vast majority of cases causes dry skin. If the skin is peeling on the palms, therefore, it is tender and sensitive, and in this case it is recommended to use soap, for example, with olive oil, that is, the fat content should be higher than that of normal soap. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to the composition of the soap used. Lanolin is widely used in its production, however it is often it causes peeling and allergic skin reactions.

Surprisingly, the cause of such an unpleasant phenomenon as peeling can be a towel. On the recommendation of cosmetologists, sensitive delicate skin should only be lightly dabbed with a towel, and not rub it with enviable zeal after bathing, washing, etc. Intense friction damages the upper layer of the epidermis, and if you add to this a hard towel, it's not surprising that the skin is flaky on the palms.

If the hands come into contact with irritants penetrating deep into the skin, it can also cause skin flaking on the palms and even cracks. In winter and early spring, the cause may be a lack of vitamins in the body.

Skin peels on the palms and for other reasons: damage to the upper layer of the epidermis (scratches, bruises, cuts); Destruction of the upper protective layer of the skin (use of cleaning / detergents); The influence of the environment (wind, cold, heat) and so on.

Methods of treatment

Peeling skin on the fingers and palms is treated in several simple ways. First of all, it is necessary to remove the dead, dry particles with the help of a scrub - the procedure should be repeated several times a week. You can also use a gel-peeling or mask with the effect of exfoliation. For daily care of the skin of the hands, it is necessary to use products and creams containing moisture-retaining components, namely silicone, mineral oil, and the like.

Before going to bed, you should wash your hands, get wet with a towel, generously smear your hands with a fat cream or vegetable oil (you can use cosmetic gloves made of cotton) - this procedure is very simple, but incredibly effective.

If the cream does not cope with peeling of the skin, additional procedures should be used: baths, masks, compresses. You can use a bath with salt or lemon juice. Immerse your hands in warm water for about half an hour, then dry with a soft towel. This procedure removes fatigue and effectively cleanses the hands. Then immerse your hands in a medicinal bath: preheated olive oil or other vegetable oil. After half an hour, the remains of the mask are thoroughly washed off with warm water, hands are slightly dried with a towel, a nourishing cream is applied.

The effectiveness of masks is much higher than creams, since they have a high degree of penetration into the skin. In addition, the masks saturate the skin with essential nutrients for its healthy state.

One of the best treatments for peeling is sea buckthorn oil, which can be both an independent tool and the basis for a mask. The mask is applied for 30 minutes (example: sea-buckthorn oil (125 ml) mixed with pumpkin juice (3 tablespoons), whisk mass), then the remains of the mask are thoroughly washed off with warm water, the hands are slightly dried, a nourishing cream is applied.

Also very effective is a mask of oatmeal, olive oil, milk and honey. Mix all the ingredients in a ratio of 6: 2: 2: 1, then put the prepared homogeneous mask on the palm of your hand, and rinse with warm water after an hour (using cosmetic gloves significantly improves the effectiveness of the mask).
