Izaya Orihara: character of the character

The character of Ryougo Narita Izaya Orihara gained popularity thanks to the anime adaptation of a series of books called Durarara. The first pages of light-novel appeared back in 2004, being published by ASCII Media Works.

Unfortunately, in Russian, the Ranbe was translated only in part, as this group of enthusiasts was engaged in this free of charge. However, there is a full English version on the web, in which you can see the original character of Orihara, which underwent insignificant changes in the television adaptation.

The Past of the Character

It is believed that Izaya Orihara, whose biography is almost not disclosed in the course of the story, grew up in quite an ordinary family, so one can only guess what exactly influenced the development of his personality. At the time of the story in light-novel guy appears already at the age of 25, but in the anime adaptation his character is two years younger, which does not make him less mature. At the same time, he is already a mafiosi and the most popular informer in the city of Tokyo.

It is also known that Izaya studied at the same academy (formerly Rajin High School) with other Durarara heroes - Shinra, Kadota and Shizuo Havadzimoy. With the last of them, Orihara did not get along at once, because of which conflicts constantly broke out between them throughout the whole plot, but none of them had serious consequences.

As a "farewell gift", Izaya framed Hayvadzim, hanging on him a series of crimes in which he was not guilty. Since then, rivalry between the heroes has completely ruled out compromises, which made the collision inevitable if one of the characters was on the territory of another.

As the main antagonist of the series, Izaya Orihara relates to all the major incidents in Ikebukuro. For example, in the war between the groupings of "Blue Squares" and "Yellow Shawls," he played a major role, squashing gangs against each other through false reports and work on two sides.

This is due to the chaotic desire of Izaya to kindle a major confrontation, during which he would have emerged victorious and ascended to Valhalla. But, despite this, Orihara is an atheist, afraid of death and pain.

More than anything concrete about the life of the character is not known, except for the presence of his twin sisters of adolescence, not different compliant.

Difficult character

Orihara Izaya, whose quotes describe him with the utmost precision ("The past will overtake wherever it hides," "I do not think that I will manage to fight, so I need to start a war in which only I can win," "True and slightly, "It's absurd to divide people into good and bad." People are either funny or boring, "etc.), the character has a rather desperate, Let and moderately cautious. The guy claims that he is in love with all of humanity except for Shizuo Heiwajima, but he feels this feeling for people as a class of objects, because his affection often turns into ugly, from the ethical point of view, actions.

Izaya often expands those interested in his personalities, bringing down on their heads complex and potentially dangerous situations. At the same time, it is not cruelty that motivates them, but the desire to know all the facets of human nature.

Remembering the quote from the fourth volume of the Ranbae, one can say that Izaya "was a man in every sense of the word." He had no special restraint or rationality, he did not have a special honesty or charisma. Orihara simply experienced an acute shortage of intrigues and knowledge about people, and also had no habit of changing his desires.

Other heroes of the Ranbe speak of him as dangerous, but present and possessing a truly frightening gift of persuasion to man.

Appearance in light novela

Being a Japanese, Izaya Orihara, the art with which is presented below, is quite high and well built, despite the slimness. Often in the lines of the novel the guy is called beautiful: he is described as the owner of thin, sharp features with a moving expression of sharp eyes and shiny dark hair. In the clothes of the main antagonist, a certain peculiarity slips, and special attention is paid in the text to the aura and the voice of Orihara - very clean and invigorating, as the author himself writes.

But even if at the beginning of Izaya always causes, if not sympathy, then at least some interest, all who have felt his influence on him, eventually feel disgust for the guy.

Special skills

Izaya Orihara has a wonderful memory that allows him to work as an informant. He is a clever liar and an eloquent speaker, perfectly mastering his facial expressions and voice intonation, which facilitates the management of the crowd along with the knowledge of psychology. Due to her antagonist with ease predicts the actions of others.

If you touch the physical aspect, then it should be said that Orihara is strong - he deftly treats cold steel and perfectly owns his body, which allowed him to reach noticeable heights in parkour. However, his basic weapon is his ability to analyze and use the information he has received.

Conclusion

Let Oriharu not be regarded as the main characters, he is the main antagonist of the series, without which many events would not have occurred. In fact, Izaya - the engine of the plot, invisibly watching from the shadows behind their pawns and correcting their actions.

This controversial guy, perhaps, the most versatile character, makes you think about what is happening, not only in the early, but outside the book world. Without it, Durarara would lose a significant part of its fascinating plot.
