Hand knitting: how to knit braids with knitting needles

Any knitted product looks very impressive, if you decorate it with braids. Knit braids with knitting needles, at first glance, it is difficult. But if you follow the scheme and advice of the masters, it turns out that knitting with braid spirals is a very fascinating activity.

The braids may be different: embossed and bulky, large and small, of two, three or four interlaces. You may need an extra spoke to knit a braid with knitting needles, but if you have a knitting skill, then you can do interlacing and "on weight", i.e. To toggle the loops from the spoke to the spoke, without using the additional one. Depending on the selected pattern, the braids can be twisted from left to right and vice versa.

So, how to knit braids with knitting needles? In order to start knitting a braid, you need to determine its thickness. For example, take 9 knitting loops for the braid itself and 2 looping loops. As a rule, braids are knitted with knitting needles with facial loops, and edge loops - with the backs. The braid will consist of three strips (two weaves).

1. We knit 2 loop edges - the back, 9 loops facing, 2 loop edges - with the backs. So it is necessary to tie several rows, preferably 4 or 6. The front part of the braid is knitted with facial loops, the purl is the wrong one.

2. Next, the edge tabs will not be mentioned, they should be knit constantly: 2 to the left of the picture, 2 to the right of it.

3. Begin to knit the first weave. It is necessary to tie 3 loops, remove 3 loops on the additional spoke (it is located behind the product), 3 knit loops on the main knitting needle, 3 knit loops from the additional knitting needle. Next, without changing the pattern, tie 6 rows.

4. Remove the 3 loops on the extra spoke that is in front of the product, 3 knit loops on the main knitting needle, 3 loops with the additional knuckle, 3 loops with the main knitting. Knit 6 rows.

5. The next weave is knit, as described in step 3.

6. Next, all weaves are repeated in turn, as described in step 5, then in step 3, then again in step 5.

The thickness of the braid may be larger: for example, by 12 loops, by 15, etc. Their number should be a multiple of three. In this case, it is necessary to increase the number of rows until the crosses of the loops, otherwise the braid will turn out to be very tight, and the knitting will require more yarn.

Often in the journals on knitting, the pattern is indicated schematically, without describing the stages of its knitting. But almost always next to the diagram or on the first (sometimes on the last) page there is a designation of loops and a description of how to tie them.

If you are interfered with when you braid a braid third auxiliary spoke, then you can try to do without it. At the moment when the loop crosses, for example, as described in point 3, having tied three loops, remove the three loops uninjured and leave them behind the product, pressing their fingers tightly. Then we sew the next 3 loops, then loops that were behind the product, put on the left knitting needle and tie it. This technique is used by more experienced knitters. It saves a lot of time.
