Inversion roof is an oasis on the roof of your house

Inversio - this Latin word defined the name of a promising new method for covering a flat roof. New technologies and building materials have once again altered the construction process. The production of extruded polystyrene foam and its application as heat and waterproofing material turned the design of the flat roof. More precisely, the order of laying and the composition of the layers changed, due to which the inversion roof acquired strength, effective thermal insulation and durability (several times the lifetime was increased). Previously, in projects of country houses, slate roofing was offered. The roofing with metal tile, soft tiles began to be produced later. Flat roofs were used only in multi-storey buildings.

To date, architects are increasingly offering projects for cottages, whose "highlight" is the inversion roof.

At the same time, the project makes maximum use of the positive features of a flat roof: the arrangement of places for rest, winter or open gardens, convenient installation of various equipment (solar panels, satellite dishes, air conditioners), relatively low cost, overlapping large spans.

At the same time, the usual pitched roof, flexible roof tiles, ondulin or metal roofs are still more used.

The main condition for good protection of the building from atmospheric influences and the possibility of operating an inversion roof is a quality, technologically correct installation.

Mandatory use of modern durable building materials and the installation of special drains into the sewage or drainage (roof garden).

The selection of the correct multi-layer solution is based on the technical design calculation when creating the project. The number of layers in different designs may differ depending on the material used, the kind of further surface exploitation, climatic conditions of the environment. Flat inversion roofing has a slope of not more than 12.

The layer that creates an inclined surface is poured onto the reinforced concrete floor, geotextiles are laid on it, waterproofing from the materials to be welded and again a layer of geotextile. Then comes the turn of heat and waterproofing based on extruded polystyrene foam (in Russia it is penoplex), again geotextile and protective layer.

The quantity and components of further coatings are determined depending on the operational application of the surface. Consider the sealing layer of gravel, or put, according to the laying technology, a paving slab. If in the future it is planned to grow plants, then we will have to add a few more layers: the anti-root is put under the protective layer; Geotextiles and plant land are laid on gravel.

With the right application of laying technologies and newest thermal and waterproof materials in construction, inversion roofing will enable residents of the house to forget about the troubles of a poor-quality roof for many years and enjoy themselves using cozy outdoor areas.
