One of the last stages of repairing an apartment after finishing works is the installation of doors. There are split systems and interior sliding doors. It is quite possible to establish both ones with your own hands, and recently the advantage is often given to sliding structures. This is understandable: the big advantage of using such a door is space saving. The next positive moment is the convenience of opening and closing, of course, if the installation of the interior door with your own hands was done correctly. And the third quality, favorably distinguishing sliding doors from swing doors, is a wide range of materials and design solutions for the manufacture of such structures.
How difficult is it to install interior sliding doors with your own hands? Do you know what the building level is and how to use it, know how to handle a drill and a screwdriver? And if you can still distinguish the anchor bolt from a conventional screw, then you can fully install the door yourself . You will also need a tape measure, a pencil and a plumb line. Having prepared the necessary tools, check the presence of the fastening material, which usually comes complete with the purchased product. It is necessary to have two aluminum or steel guide rails on which the canvas is mounted; Suspension and support rollers fixed on the door. There must also be stops that stop the movement of the canvas in the right place and, finally, a set of fixing hardware, which includes the necessary bolts, screws and keys.
We begin to install interior sliding doors with our own hands with the definition of the place of the upper guide rail. Two conditions that must be observed:
- The guide must be located strictly parallel to the wall along which the door will move;
- The upper rail is fixed only horizontally, by level. Otherwise, the door leaf will spontaneously move to the slope.
Drawing a line, fix the upper guide with the help of anchor bolts. It carries the main load, so the fastening should be reliable. After that, lay the bottom guide on the floor near the top, until you fix it. The web with the upper and lower rolls fixed on it is inserted first into the upper guide, then into the lower one. Using a plumb line or a building level, align the door strictly vertically, shifting the lower part in the desired direction. Having done this, draw a line along which we attach the guide with the help of screws to the floor.
When both rails are securely fixed, we mark on them the stopping point of the door in the open position, and in this place we fix special stops that are present in the fastening set. Now you can finally install the door. It is important to check its progress on the rollers: it should be soft, smooth and noiseless. Interior sliding doors with their own hands are also necessarily checked for tightness to the vertical opening of the wall. If a crevice is formed at the top or bottom, adjust the position of the blade by slightly lifting or lowering one edge with a hex wrench. The final action - gluing to the edge of the door, which is adjacent to the opening, a special bristly self-adhesive strip, damping the impact of the canvas against the wall when it is closed. It remains to attach the door handle, if it is provided, - and your work is completed.
