How to install a font in Photoshop

If you at least sometimes use the graphic editor Photoshop, then for sure you have the need to create a text written in beautiful, unusual letters. But those fonts that were originally built into the program, is not enough. Is there anything you can do about it? Is it possible to add other beautiful and original fonts to those already available? Of course, you can install the font in Photoshop yourself, and it's not difficult at all.

First you need to find the Internet and download the archive with the fonts you like. There are a lot of them, but try to find one that supports both the Cyrillic alphabet and the Latin alphabet, otherwise you will get abracadabra when using it. After the archive has been downloaded, it must be unpacked. To do this, right click the mouse to click on the archive, a menu will appear. In it you need to select the option "Extract" or "Extract to the current folder". Especially for fonts, you can create a separate folder, because, quite possibly, you will need some other kind of letters.

Next, to install the font, click the "Start" button with the left mouse button. Do not close or fold the folder, just move it slightly. In the "Start" find the item called "All Programs" and, opening it, go to "Control Panel". Here you will find a folder that is called "Fonts". But it can be found through search. Open the folder where you select "Set font" in the context menu, called by the right mouse button. You can preview how the letters from the proposed font list look like. To do this, double-click on the name and in the window that appears, see if this view suits you. If yes, then directly from here you can install it by clicking the corresponding button in the top panel.

If you are thinking about how to install a font through the context menu, then in the dialog box, select the names you need, and then in the command line enter the path to the folder into which you unpacked the downloaded archive. You can assume that the font is installed. In addition, you can see it not only in Photoshop, but also in Word.

If you want to know how to install a font without knowing its name, but having a piece of text written by it, then this is also possible. There are several resources with which you can find the font you like (or very close to it), having only an image of letters. For example, Graphic Design Blog. But it can be useful only if you know the name of the studio or the name of the designer who created this font.

If there is no such knowledge, and the look of the letters you see for the first time, you can recommend What The Font. This resource will help you to find the font according to its available image. To make the search results more successful, make sure to start that the picture has a fairly clear view. Remove background noise and add contrast in the same photoshop. The next step in how to install a font that is not known will be loading the image into the program. Next, you need to make sure that the resource correctly identified the glyphs, and only then click "Search". As a result, you will have several options. If you increase the size of the image to the maximum (360x275 pixels), the list may become an order of magnitude shorter.

Another resource is Fontshop. It is original in that you first need to determine the general shape of the font you selected, after which, according to increasing, it is necessary to answer more complex questions. In addition, this service is also good in that it helps not only to identify the already existing font, but also to find suitable letters for your project. You set the necessary parameters yourself and get a unique result.

As you can see, there is nothing difficult in how to install a font. Do not forget that in order to activate it, the photoshop will have to be rebooted.
