How to insert text using the keyboard in the program "Word"

Everyone who types or edits text in the program "Ward", strives to increase the speed of work, to find algorithms that would allow as little as possible to concentrate on technical details and devote as much time as possible to immediate creative or professional tasks. One of the reserves of increasing efficiency - of course, the ability to use the keys. And when editing, and when writing text (for example, when quoting), perhaps, the most popular function is copying with further insertion. Do this with the mouse and the menu - extremely irrational. The article is devoted to how to insert text using the keyboard. This is especially true when working on a laptop.

How to select text

Before you insert the text, it, of course, you need to highlight. Most often when working in a text editor, the keyboard and mouse are combined. With the mouse, it is easy to navigate, move quickly from page to page, put the cursor in the right place, so you can often see how the text is selected with the mouse, and copied and inserted using the keys. However, changing the tool takes quite a lot of time and reduces efficiency, so it's better to select text using the keyboard.

The working keys for this are Shif, Ctrl, arrows, Home, End, A (Latin). Various combinations of them allow you to distinguish different fragments, but now we will focus on the most popular options:

  • Select all (news text). Ctrl + A (Russian F). Most often this feature is used if you want to make all the contents of one file part of another.
  • Select one or more words. Ctrl + Shift + arrow (right or left). Place the cursor before the first word of the fragment to be copied and pasted, press Ctrl and Shift, and then click the right arrow until the desired fragment is selected. Each press of the arrow will highlight one word. The same logic with the work in the opposite direction (the original position of the cursor is behind the last word).
  • Select one (or parts) or several paragraphs. Ctrl + Shift + arrow up or down. If the cursor is in front of the first word, then pressing the down arrow will highlight the paragraph, if it is in the middle, then its part from the cursor to the end. Each subsequent click will highlight a piece of text before the paragraph mark.
  • Select the sign. Shift + the arrow to the right or to the left.
  • Select the row. Shift + arrow up or down.

Undo selection

It is equally important to be able to cancel or correct the selection.

If you need to specify the highlighted area (for example, if you selected something extra), you can use the same commands, referring to the inverse logic (that is, returning to the position back).

If you want to undo all selection, just release the working keys (Shif and Ctrl) and press one of the arrows.

The first way to copy and paste

There are at least two ways to insert text using the keyboard. The first method works as follows:

  • Copy: Ctrl + C (Latin);
  • Insert: Ctrl + V.

This operation is usually carried out with one hand. This combination is often used by those who work, for example, with the Adobe package, as in these applications, copying and pasting are performed using these keys.

The second way of copying and pasting

It is also worthwhile to know the second way of how to insert text using the keyboard. In this case, the default key is Insert:

  • Copy: Ctrl + Insert;
  • Insert: Shift + Insert.

This method involves most often the use of two hands (right for Insert, left for working key). His knowledge is useful when working with browsers.

Multiple Insert

Very often, you need to insert the same piece of text in different places. If such editing does not involve the use of automatic search and replacement, then it can turn into a real test for the author or editor. Move around the text more conveniently with the mouse, and paste text - using the keyboard. Constantly pressing two keys is very inconvenient - this leads to either errors or unpleasant physical sensations (since the hand must always be in the same position and make the same movements). Therefore, in such cases it is advisable to know how to insert text using the keyboard repeatedly. It is very convenient to use the repeat operation function.

Make the first insertion in the way that you think is convenient, and then press the F4 function key (repeat).

Copying and pasting within a single document

Often, knowledge is required about how to insert text in the Word is rational if the fragment being copied is in the same document, and often in the same paragraph as the place where it should be inserted.

In this case, it is more convenient not to remove the text from the source location and insert it into a new position, but simply move it.

To do this, select the desired fragment and press the F2 key.

Move the cursor to the place where you want to insert, and press Enter. The text will move.

Cutting text without deleting

Moving text with the F2 key is sometimes inconvenient: for example, if the insertion point is not yet defined, or if you need to duplicate the insert.

In these and other cases, you can use the so-called cut function: the program will delete the text, but will remember it in the clipboard. To do this, remember the combination Ctrl + X (Latin) and / or Shift + Del.

In general, the refusal to copy and paste the mouse can significantly speed up the work, reduce the physical load on the hand that works with the mouse, and reduce the number of errors (will make the work more precise and accurate).
