Heating system with natural circulation: design features, advantages and disadvantages

The heating system with natural circulation is used today quite often both in private houses and in apartments. The water cycle in them is due to the temperature difference. Heated and cold liquid has a different weight and density. Convection of water in the system mainly depends on the difference in height between the radiators and the boiler, as well as on the difference in temperature.

To ensure that the heating ring is not broken by the increased volume of heated liquid, it is equipped with an expansion tank, which is installed at the highest point in the house. However, because of it, pipes often have to fill with water. The heating system with natural circulation usually works on a solid fuel boiler.

There is an opinion that it is not worthwhile to fill pipes with ordinary water, as it provokes rusting and corrosion of metal, and also leaves a calcareous deposit on the walls of the radiators. To ensure that the liquid does not stagnate in the batteries, the system can be equipped with a circulation pump. If there is still scum on the pipes, then it should be washed using special means.

A heating system with natural circulation can work more efficiently if you install a diaphragm tank instead of an expansion tank . It is closed. However, it can be installed only if the main heat source (boiler) is running on liquid fuel or gas.

In order for the house to be cozy, the calculation of the heating system with Natural circulation must be done correctly. At the same time, heat engineering and hydraulic characteristics, as well as hot water supply and surface heating, should be taken into account, which helps to choose the right equipment.

Recently, a single pipe system has become popular, which can be connected to the radiator at the bottom or at the top. In this case, all devices are installed in series.

Single-pipe heating systems with natural circulation have such advantages:

- quickly mounted;

- are cheaper than other types of systems;

- look aesthetically pleasing;

- do not require a large number of equipment and supplies.

However, there are also disadvantages: radiators should have a large number of sections, warm floors and towel rails become inefficient, there is a need for increased pressure of the coolant. Therefore, often such systems are additionally equipped with circulating pumps. To date, this type of heating can be improved with the help of various thermostatic valves, ball valves, radiator regulators.

This heating system with natural circulation can be horizontal and vertical. In any case, the pipe should have a large diameter, unless, of course, you will not use the pump. However, the system will depend on electricity, which can suddenly disappear.

So, from all written above it is necessary to draw a conclusion that the presented heating system is very effective, however the pump will not become an extra addition.
