The list of merits of this public figure can be listed endlessly, but about everything in order.

Eduard Sagalayev - who is he?

In Russia and even in the countries of the former USSR, there are hardly people who do not know who Eduard Sagalayev is. Biography of this man is full of merits in the field of journalism, and later - television and science.

But very few people know that Eduard Mikhailovich has two names and a nickname, like a cat.

Childhood and youth

The future journalist Eduard Sagalayev was born in the city of Samarkand of the Uzbek SSR. Date of birth - October 3, 1946. As a child, he was an ordinary boy-sorbent, who did not want to learn music and liked to walk with the guys in the yard.

He began his career for years of study at the Samarkand State University, where he was a student of the Faculty of Philology. While studying, the young man played in the city's drama theater, and also worked as a radio announcer when he entered the third year.

First successes

After graduating from the university in 1967, Sagalayev was appointed to the post of editor-in-chief of the Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting at the regional executive committee of Samarkand. Two years later he began to work in the newspaper "The Leninist Way", in the department of party life.

Thanks to the good characteristics: a member of the party, young, married, a journalist was offered a place in the Tashkent newspaper Komsomolets Uzbekistan as a responsible secretary. But for a long time he did not stay there - the work in this position lasted from 1972 to 1973.

Then Eduard Sagalayev was invited to Moscow, to the printing sector of the Central Committee of the Komsomol. According to him, everything developed in such a positive way quite by accident: it just turned out to be at the right time in the right place. Meanwhile, the young man was swiftly rising up the career ladder.

The beginning of a career in television

After graduating from the Academy of Social Sciences, in 1975 Eduard Mikhailovich became deputy editor in the youth edition of television. This appointment was amazing, as for Sagalayev himself and his colleagues - he was only a year in Moscow, and such career ups were striking. But the journalist explains it simply: he "burned" with work, even on the corridors of the building did not go, but ran, so much he wanted to do and make it.

Five years later he began working at the Yunost radio station as editor-in-chief, and four years later as editor-in-chief in the youth editorial office of the State Television and Radio. Sagalayev is one of the creators of the popular television programs "Vzglyad", "Twelfth Floor" and others.

It was at this time Edward Mikhailovich received from his colleagues the nickname of Mustached-Striped. For the fact that he liked to dress bright and bright in his youth, and came to work in the office dressed in black and orange stripes, similar to an Uzbek robe. As the journalist later recalls with a laugh, with a taste of his then was "not very". He was the youngest editorial staff, but at the same time one of the most talented.

Career in the era of restructuring

In the years 88-90, Sagalaev worked as editor-in-chief in the information department and as deputy chairman of the State Television and Radio of the USSR. And also heads the editorial board of the television program "Time", which was produced by this company, and conducts the "Seven Days" program.

The last broadcast was eventually closed due to accusations of biased reflection of reality. At this moment, Eduard Mikhailovich decides to leave the rest of the posts - he simply writes a statement about leaving to nowhere.

Later, in the 90-91-ies, he became the head of the Union of Journalists of the USSR, as well as the general director of the TV-6 channel. The appointment to the first post was unexpected for Sagalayev: the chief editors of the party newspaper Pravda were appointed to this post by tradition.

In the same years, Eduard Sagalaev first became one of the founders of the International Confederation of Journalist Unions, and then its president. In parallel, he conducts the activities of the people's deputy of the USSR, which later recalls with horror and does not understand why he needed it.

"Dashing Nineties": what opportunities did this time open for Sagalayev

In the 90-97-ies, he became chairman of the International Commission on Television and Radio Policy in conjunction with former US President Jimmy Carter. The purpose of this organization is the accumulation and generalization of information on the conduct of tele- and radio business.

In August 1991, Eduard Mikhailovich was appointed deputy chairman of the All-Union Radio Company, and a little later, in January next year, the general director of "Ostankino." But six months later he leaves this responsible post at his own request because of different points of view with the acting authorities on what television should be like.

In the same year Sagalayev founded the Moscow Independent Broadcasting Corporation (abbreviated MNVK) and was among its shareholders - along with such large companies as Lukoil, LogoVAZ and the United Bank.

In 1993, Eduard Sagalayev, whose photo is presented below, becomes the president of the TV-6 channel and the head of the board of directors. In addition, he not only directed the MNVK, but later also acted as the TV presenter of the "In the world of people" program, which was broadcast on the television channel since 1995.

In the same year, 1993, Eduard Mikhailovich was in the working group of the Ministry of Press and Information of the Russian Federation on the development of the state policy of the media. And three years later he proposed the creation of the National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters, which united more than 300 Russian TV and radio companies. Sagalayev became the head of the organization and continues to maintain this post. At the same time he was elected a member of the Academy of Russian Television.

Gradual withdrawal from TV screens

In 1996, Eduard Sagalayev left TV-6 and became the head of the All-Russian State TV and Radio Company. But, as he later recalls, he was approved to this position only to displace his predecessor Oleg Poptsov at the time of the elections. At the same time, everyone was sure that Eduard Mikhailovich would not bring "revolutionary sentiments" to the collective. So it happened, and a year later this post was taken by Nikolai Svanidze, and Sagalayev returned to TV-6.

In the summer of 1999, public figure Eduard Sagalayev became deputy chairman of the board of directors of the ORT television channel, but he was not in this position for long - until 2000. In 2001, he resigns from the post of president of TV-6, after which the TV channel is soon declared bankrupt.

In the same year, the journalist is the founder of the non-profit "Eduard Sagalayev Foundation", which was created to improve television and radio broadcasting, Internet technologies and electronic media. This organization had to follow the scientific, cultural, social and other goals useful to society.

In the first chamber, he was the head of the subcommittee on electronic media, but in the second part his name was not already indicated.

Three years later, Sagalayev again announced himself on television. Eduard Mikhailovich together with the channel TNT released the program "Mystical Journeys", and also led the program "Encyclopedia of mistakes of Eduard Sagalayev" on the cable channel "Psychology 21".

Refusal to work on television in the same scale Sagalayev only pleases: he claims, this provided him a happy old age with the opportunity to travel to different corners of the planet. For example, he visited Ireland, the Himalayas and Bali.

Nationality of a public figure

According to Eduard Sagalayev, his biography did not reflect his nationality, because his father was a Jew, and mentioning this could prevent him from moving along the career ladder. Subsequently, the journalist was ashamed that he had to hide such facts, and he even went to Ukraine to find his father's relatives.

Edward Mikhailovich said that he always considered himself to be Russian - his ancestors came from a village in the Saratov region, from where they were deported to Samarkand under the Bolsheviks. The journalist traveled to his native places together with Alexei Pivovarov, who was filming a program about dekulakized families. True, the village, from which the ancestors of Sagalayev were born, disappeared. From her there is nothing left, except for the abandoned graves.
