The first couple of years of her life were spent in the Japanese internment camp. Further Xavier had to live in Amsterdam, later - in Johannesburg with his half-sister. While in South Africa, she meets American economist Carl Gordon and takes lessons from him. After this, the girl moves to New York and soon works in Manhattan as secretary of the Dutch consulate. But it did not last long.
