At first, the Kabardian fortress was subjected to frequent attacks by the mountaineers. But gradually the relationship between the Russian and the local population became calmer. As a result, this led to peace and the fact that in 1852 two auls - Aduao and Chabad - were attached to the territory of the fort. With the outbreak of the Crimean War, all the garrisons of the Black Sea coast were taken to the Crimea, and the bastions were destroyed. Defeated in this war, Russia for a short time lost its authority in Europe and the Black Sea, but quickly restored it and regained its former positions in the Caucasus.
