How to take a picture of a monitor: tips for beginners

Many PC users are interested in the question of how to photograph the monitor screen, ie. Make a screenshot that can be used in various presentations, demos, lessons, etc. There are several ways to do this.

One of the options for how to photograph the monitor screen are standard operating system tools, for example, Windows. This is a very easy way, just use the Print Screen button, which is present on the keyboards of all modern computers and laptops.

If you still do not know how to take a picture of the monitor screen with this function, follow a small instruction. As soon as the image required for the picture appears on the display, i.e. The required window, the program, etc., click Print Screen. This will cause the image to appear on the operating system's clipboard. Then you need to use any available graphics editor (standard or optional), creating a new document in it. After that, it will only be necessary to paste the image received into the clipboard into it, and then save it.
This method allows you to take a snapshot of the entire screen, its entire area. If you need, for example, to take a photo of only the active window, you need to use the "Print Screen + Alt" key combination. After that, the image will also appear in the clipboard and its further processing is similar to the one described above.
If you need to take a picture only a certain part of the screen, you can use special software. There are a lot of different programs designed for this, both free (for example "Simple Screenshot", "Magic Screenshot"), and paid ("SnagIt"). They provide the user with the widest possibilities, such as selecting an area for a snapshot, editing a screenshot, and so on.

Many also are wondering how to make a screenshot of a video. If you want to take a photo of the monitor screen from the currently playing video file, you can use the "Print Screen + Alt" combination already familiar to you at the moment when the media player window is active. It is possible to take a picture at the moment of its reproduction in almost any popular program used to play files of this type.

For example, to get a screenshot of a video in one of the most popular players - Media Player Classic - you can do this: after starting the file, click the "Pause" button at the moment the playback reaches the desired place. Then execute File - Save Image. After that, the received photo can be saved in the format .jpg or .bmp and processed, like any other.
There is also another interesting way to create screen shots with this player. You can take photos of several fragments of a video file at once by selecting the Save Thumbnails option. You can also set the number of images in one picture, changing the number of columns / rows, and the width of the created thumbnails.
Now you know how to take a picture of the monitor screen, active or any of its parts, to make a screenshot of the video file being played. As you can see, there is nothing complicated in this.
