Flytrap is a miniature and beautiful bird

The flytrap is a small bird that belongs to the Passeriformes and the Flycatcher family, which includes about 80 genera and more than 330 species. All representatives of the flycatcher family have rather long wings and weak legs, unsuitable for active movement along branches of trees or earth. The flytrap is a bird with a short tail (except for the paradise flytrap), with a notch on the end. The coloring of the plumage in the flycatcher family can be either monotonous in one species, or very bright in another.

The most widespread of this family are such species as the small flycatcher, the gray flycatcher and the flycatcher. The bird mainly has a conical strong beak, which expands to the base, small size and soft plumage, which is typical for all species of flytrap. In our country, from the representatives of this family there are about 4 genera and 15 species.

A pilot, or a small flytrap, is a bird that has received this name due to its small size and body weight. Its weight is only 11 grams, the length of the body is 12-14 centimeters, for which the pilot is considered the smallest species of the Flycatcher family. A small flytrap is a bird that is inconspicuous, as it prefers to settle in high coniferous forests. In the first year of life, the color of males and females is almost the same. Later, the pilot-male acquires a colorful plumage, expressed ashen-gray color of the front of the chest and sides, red neck and brownish-gray back. Female small flycatcher has a dimmer plumage and does not have red spots on the throat. The nests of small flycatchers are distinguished by a large amount of moss, which is the main material for building a nest. The main source for feeding the bird are caterpillars, small beetles and butterflies. The song of the pilot is a rather simple sonorous trill, which has a pleasant sound.

The gray flytrap is a bird that has become widespread throughout Europe and the European part of Russia. In the east of our country the range of its habitat extends to the Chita region. The bird flycatcher (photo can be seen in the article) does not differ with bright plumage, having a brownish gray top, white bottom and longitudinal pestriny, located on the chest and head. Like all representatives of the Flycatcher family, the gray flytrapper has small dimensions: the body length of the bird is 15 centimeters, and the body weight is 15 grams. Often the bird settles near a person, lives in the countryside, on forest edges, vineyards, orchards and gardens. Although many members of this family have a beautiful enough voice, the gray flytrapper does not sing, but emits quiet, creaking whistles.

The mottled flycatcher is a singing bird, which differs from its small and gray sisters by its bright plumage and sonorous trills. In the summer, males have black-and-white plumage and distinct white spots on the wings and above the beak, as well as the whitish color of the breast. In female flycatchers, the feathering is less bright: the upper part of the calf is brown, and the wings and tail are dark. In winter, the color of the males becomes similar to the color of the females, while the male varieties remain with black wings and upper feathers on the tail. The main habitat of the flycatcher is the parks, as well as fruit gardens, where there is a large number of hollows. The song of the male motley flytrapper is a short ringing trill of different heights.
