Effective prevention of caries in children

The structure of children's teeth has one feature - slightly mineralized enamel. She is vulnerable and susceptible to various microorganisms, due to which caries can appear in the child after the eruption of teeth. Thus, tooth decay usually affects the chewing cavity of the molars, as well as the milk incisors of the upper jaw.

The factors that contribute to the development of caries are very diverse. This can be a violation of the tissue structure of the tooth, which occur before the birth of the child, and mother's diseases during pregnancy: infectious virus diseases, hypertension, rheumatism, toxicosis, endocrine diseases, etc., as well as smoking and abuse of medical products.

Prevention of caries in infants

In pediatric dentistry, special attention should be paid to preventive methods, which in most cases can prevent the appearance of caries. Thus, the main preventive element is the proper nutrition of the child. It is the key to healthy dairy and molar teeth. After the birth of the baby, it is necessary to make it so that he can be breast-fed for as long as possible. Mother's milk is the most valuable source of protective and nutrient substances, the analogue of which has not yet been invented: it affects the development and formation of the dentoalveolar system of the baby. Most often, dental tissue disorders are observed in children who were on artificial feeding.

Dairy products are also very useful for the baby, because they supply the body with calcium, which is the main element of bones and teeth. Therefore, effective prevention of caries involves the use of dairy products from an early age. So, kefir to the kid is authorized to accept already since 6 months, and cottage cheese and cheese - hardly later. According to the opinion of the leading dieticians and children's doctors, the child should consume dairy products daily.

After the baby has the first tooth, effective prevention of caries will also include a daily brushing procedure - it should be done 2 times a day. As for sweets, and in particular chewing sweets and caramels, it is necessary to reduce their use by the child (before bedtime and between meals and at all to exclude). It is also undesirable to use a large amount of juice, while fruits, vegetables, milk and peanut oil, on the contrary, are recommended to be consumed as often as possible.

In addition, effective prevention of tooth decay involves a serious control over the duration of contact of children's teeth with a bottle. It is necessary to avoid falling asleep to the baby with a bottle in the mouth, because sucrose, which is contained in juices and baby milk, is extremely harmful to immature tooth enamel.

If the baby has no problems with his teeth, then he should visit the dentist at least 2 times a year, if there are any problems, the doctor should be examined at least once every 3 months.

Preventive maintenance of dental caries in preschool children

As a rule, caries of baby teeth is formed due to poor oral hygiene, excessive consumption of carbohydrates, as well as incomplete intake of microelements and minerals (especially fluorine). To strengthen tooth enamel, it is necessary to conduct a deep fluoridation of teeth, after which the child does not face caries for the next six months.

At this age, effective prevention of caries is based on the parent example. So, following the example and under the strict control of parents, the child should brush his teeth already independently. The most convenient way is to stand at the baby's back, thereby imitating self-cleaning of teeth. It also happens that the child does not allow to clean his teeth, but it is not worth to force him. It is better to convert the cleaning process into a game, by doing it with a bright brush or a delicious pasta.
