Porcelain veneers

This method of restoration of the teeth, like vinification, appeared several decades ago. In the 30s of the last century it was used by well-known movie actors , showmen and politicians who, according to their duty, were obliged to look beautiful and attractive. However, today almost anyone can afford this luxury - the development of dentistry makes it possible to install veneers for any person in the presence of certain indications.

One of the most important conditions necessary for vinification is the presence of healthy and strong teeth and gums. Therefore, before proceeding with the installation, the dentist should conduct a thorough examination of the teeth, as well as conduct treatment of available diseases. Modern achievements in aesthetic dentistry make it possible to use various materials for dental lining, ceramics are a well-deserved popularity among them.

Porcelain veneers are one of the varieties of ceramic pads. With proper care and compliance with the recommendations of a doctor, they are able to serve no less than 10-15 years. In addition, this material makes it possible to more accurately select the color shade of the facing insert, rather than, for example, the composite. The strength of such a cladding also deserves respect - modern ceramic materials are not inferior and, in some ways, even surpass in this natural tooth enamel.

The only weak point in the construction is the cementitious compound, which is more plastic, and therefore more sensitive to loads. That is why after the installation procedure it is necessary to exclude the possibility of blows, as well as to reduce the consumption of excessively solid substances. On the other hand, porcelain veneers are still much stronger than composite ones, besides they do not fade with time and do not require polishing.

By means of porcelain veneers it is possible:

  • Conceal congenital developmental defects or the consequences of injuries or treatment of tooth enamel;
  • Get rid of fluorescent spots and tetracycline teeth;
  • Hide darkened or discolored as a result of damage or root canal treatment;
  • To eliminate the chips and cracks formed on the tooth enamel;
  • Eliminate excessively large gaps between teeth.

One of the main advantages of using porcelain veneers is that this material has a high light transmission capacity. Teeth coated with ceramics with the right selection of shade is almost impossible to distinguish from natural teeth. Porcelain does not cause allergies and gum irritations, which is observed when using individual composite compounds.

The list of procedures that need to be carried out during the installation of porcelain veneers includes:

  1. Enameling of tooth enamel. The thickness of the insert ensures its strength, and in order to prevent the teeth from appearing bulging after fixing the inserts, the dentist removes about 0.5-0.7 mm of enamel.
  2. Creating an impression. After the preparation of the teeth with a special paste, the doctor makes a fingerprint of the patient's jaw, through which ceramic inserts will be made in the dental laboratory.
  3. Choice of color shade. In this case, a color chart is used, which determines the correspondence of the insertion tone to the color of adjacent teeth.
  4. Manufacturing and installation of temporary cosmetic inserts. Since it takes about 2 weeks for the ceramic cladding to be made and the teeth become sensitive after the enamel is removed, the patient is given temporary inserts.
  5. Correction and installation of porcelain veneers.
