Drying oil: application, impregnation characteristics

When building and finishing houses often used wood, because this is one of the most environmentally friendly materials. Nevertheless, to keep the wooden elements of your house as long as possible, so that they do not destroy the fungus and insects, they need to be protected. With this task is easily handled such a tool as drying oil.

Impregnation application

The use of drying oil makes it possible to extend the life of wooden structural elements for decades. This especially applies to rafters, because they are constantly exposed to moisture. Drying oils are synthetic and natural, purely homogeneous, polydiene, synthetically modified, slate, kumarono-indene, etc. Natural varnish is very popular . The use of this remedy does not harm either people or animals. After all, it is based on vegetable oil (up to 97%). Impregnation of varnish facade wooden elements can protect them from changes in temperature and humidity and, of course, from atmospheric influences. When the wooden surface is treated with this compound, a firm, but elastic protective film is formed on it , which protects the tree from external influences, including from fungus damage. Natural linseed oil is made from sunflower, soybean, linseed oil. The best means is based on linseed oil.

At present, many impregnations having a chemical basis have appeared, with excellent, by the way, characteristics. But this did not lose its relevance and linseed oil. The use of natural impregnation, in addition to environmental friendliness, has one more important advantage: it is the cheapness of such material. Basically, linseed oil is intended for interior decoration, its application in outdoor works gives only a temporary effect, requiring further coating with oil paint, enamel or varnish. In the manufacture of oil paints and putties also used drying oil. The use of such means protects wooden surfaces from decay. The use of drying oil as a pretreatment reduces the consumption of paint and varnish in the performance of paint and varnish work. Usually the agent is applied in two to three layers, and after that the surface is painted. It is also recommended to heat the impregnation to a temperature of 80-90 degrees Celsius, and then hot to apply to the tree. Thus, a more qualitative and deep penetration of the composition into the pores of the tree is achieved.

Drying oil: impregnation characteristics

Now the drying oil of three types: natural, "Oksol" and composite. Natural impregnation consists of 97 percent of natural oil, the remaining three percent is a desiccant (a substance that promotes rapid drying). Drying oil "Oxol" in its composition has only 55 percent of oil (linseed or sunflower), forty percent of white spirit and 5 percent of desiccant. This impregnation is cheaper than natural. Composition compositions are characterized by a sharp smell, they include petroleum-polymer resins, which serve as substitutes for natural resins, as well as other petrochemical products. This type of drying oil is the cheapest. Compositional impregnations are not recommended for use in living quarters, even on balconies, because after drying these formulations there is still a sharp characteristic smell.
