Drain pit - how to build it?

Such delights of civilization as the sewerage end outside the urban settlements, therefore in the villages and in the cottages all the amenities are still located in the courtyard. In summer, this method is quite acceptable, but what to do in the winter or late autumn, when it's damned cold or dank and damp? For those who live in country houses, there are several ways to solve this problem. The simplest option is to hire specialists who will quickly and competently equip you with a sewer system. But if there is a desire, especially with a budget deficit, you can solve this issue on your own.

How can this be done?

First of all, you need to carefully study the plot of the infield. After that, develop a bathroom design. It is necessary to decide on where the waste pit will be located, and where the toilet itself will be located. On the advice of knowledgeable people, in order to avoid undesirable problems under the cesspool, it is necessary to take a place where its contents do not interfere with the economic buildings. And, of course, the chosen location should be convenient for laying the entire sewer system in such a way as to avoid a lot of bends. Once the project is ready, the next step will be to implement it directly.

Drain pit - how to build it?

The first thing in the planned part of the infield area is to dig a pit 3.5 meters deep. For a private house, 15 m3 of volume is enough. The next step is to prepare the reinforcement frame and install it inside. It is collected in a grid with large cells using arc welding. The optimal size of the cells is 20 to 20 cm. The frame size is calculated in such a way that along the width and along the length the drainage pit is larger by 10 cm and more per meter.

Then a wooden frame is created. It, in turn, should be shorter by 5 cm in length and width than that which is poured with concrete. Together, this entire structure is a reinforced concrete tank for sewerage. In it a puncher at a distance of forty centimeters and then eighty upwards from the bottom to the ground holes are punched in the size of a cell of a metal frame. They are arranged in staggered order relative to each other. This is to ensure that in the future the outflow of liquids is carried out in conjunction with groundwater. The parts of the channel are laid out on the frame. The distance between each part is 50 cm. In this order they are welded to the carcass reinforcement. Then they cover everything with a five-millimeter steel sheet. The drain pit can be reinforced with this and other methods.

Pipe laying

Today the choice of pipes is quite large, but for this case PVC pipes are best suited. Their main advantages are: the opportunity to do without the use of a welding machine, their relatively small weight and long service without repair. If the cesspool in a private house is located in a straight line from the bathroom, and the sewer system will be laid without bends, then everything is simple. It is necessary to dig a ditch of meter depth along the basement. At the same time PVC pipes pass with a bias towards the pit. The bias will be three to four centimeters per meter. For what it is needed - in order for the fecal mass to flow unhindered along the pipes together with the fluid flow.

For a good depreciation of the system of PVC pipes, the bottom of the ditch under them should be laid with straw or rags. The hole under the pipe in the concrete frame is made with a perforator. Further it is bound with rubber pieces, which can be made from automobile tires. For outdoor sewage , PVC pipes with a diameter of 160 mm are also used. To ensure that the pipes do not freeze, they are wrapped in glass wool, and on top with polyethylene.

At the final stage, a hole is made in the steel pit lid with a diameter of 20 centimeters. Above it establish a pipe not less than 120 cm long. The finishing coat is glass wool and polyethylene, everything is covered with earth on top so that only the steel covering is visible. The sewage system is ready!
