Districts of Orenburg: list, description and interesting facts

Orenburg is an important industrial and transport center of the Ural region, home to over 550,000 people. The city is located on the Ural River, on the conditional border between Europe and Asia. In this article, we will examine in detail the areas of Orenburg, their boundaries and location.

Territorial division of the city: features and interesting facts

The territory of the city is divided into 4 administrative units. This Central, Dzerzhinsky, Industrial and Leninsky district. Orenburg also includes ten villages and towns. Previously, they were independent settlements.

Areas of Orenburg are divided into smaller micro-districts and residential areas. The names of some of them are rather bizarre and unusual.

So, for example, the village Podmayachny (this is its official name), the locals nicknamed Shanghai. As you know, the districts with such a name are present in many cities of the post-Soviet space and they differ in their high crime situation. The Orenburg "Shanghai" is not an exception, although now quite well-founded and law-abiding citizens are actively settling there.

Another housing estate Orenburg - Aviagorodok - called Africa. Where did this name come from - exactly unknown. There is in Orenburg and its "China", "Paris", "Albania" ... But a solid array of private sector in the city center for some reason called the New Building, although the local houses are not less than fifty years old. If you delve into the history of Orenburg, then everything becomes quite obvious. This area was built in the middle of the twentieth century after a series of large-scale fires that destroyed a large number of residential buildings in the city. The locals called the new-built houses "new buildings", and this name was soon fixed in the whole area.

Orenburg districts and their geography

As mentioned above, the administrative structure of the city provides for the division into four territorial entities. Orenburg districts were established in the second half of the last century, and their borders are described in detail in a special resolution of 2009.

The industrial area is located in the western part of the city and covers an area of 29 square meters. Km. In its borders there are 219 streets. This area was built up chaotically, therefore for the most part of its streets bends are characteristic. The name of the district speaks for itself: many of the Orenburg enterprises are located here.

Dzerzhinsky district is located in the north of the city and has only 59 streets. It is the youngest in age and second in area area in Orenburg. In its development, modern and multi-storey residential buildings predominate. In addition, here are the largest in the city office and shopping centers.

The Leninsky district of Orenburg is the largest in area (130 sq. Km.). In its borders there are 406 streets. The district occupies the eastern and southeastern part of Orenburg. The main transport axis of the district is Gagarin Avenue, nine kilometers long.

The central district occupies the central part of the city. In its limits - 144 streets. It is here that the main sights of Orenburg are located: Frunze, Zauralnaya Grove, the Governor's Museum, monuments to Lenin and Chkalov.

Finally

Orenburg is a large industrial, transport and trade center in the Urals. This city is distinguished by a rather complex administrative and territorial structure. It is divided into two urban districts, four districts and several dozen microdistricts and residential areas.
