Double superphosphate: application, formula and price of fertilizer

Mineral fertilizers are the basis of modern agriculture. They allow to significantly increase the fertility of even very poor soils, which makes it possible to grow rich crops practically in all regions of the country. Given that the characteristics of soils in most of our regions are far from perfect, this is a very valuable property.

Of course, their choice should be approached with all possible responsibility, since the introduction of excessive amounts of mineral fertilizers into the land can well lead not only to the death of plants, but also to the poisoning of people with nitrates and nitrites. To one of the most effective means of this kind is double superphosphate.

When should it be applied?

Imagine that you have a beautiful well-groomed garden. Once you can notice that the state of the leaves on the plants leaves much to be desired: the lower part of the leaf blade acquires an unnatural green-violet hue, and the yield drops sharply ... These signs indicate that you urgently need double superphosphate.

In addition, a reliable sign is also the fall of the ovaries, which are extremely sensitive to the shortage of many trace elements.

Why do we need phosphorus?

Note that in this substance absolutely all plants on our planet are needed. The problem is that in soils the content of available phosphorus compounds rarely exceeds 1%, and in most regions this value is even less.

Especially in phosphorus young, intensively growing seedlings are needed, since this element ensures the flow of energy processes in cells and tissues. And to receive it from somewhere, except as from a ground, plants are not able. Fortunately, today in stores there is a huge amount of various kinds of fertilizers, one of which is just double superphosphate.

What does it contain?

So, you came to the store. Remember, there are many kinds of superphosphate, but you need double superphosphate. Its formula is Ca (H 2 PO 4 ) 2 * H 2 O.

It contains not less than 50% (+ -5%) of phosphorus. And it is in a form easily assimilated for all plants. In addition, it has 15% (+2%) of nitrogenous compounds, which can also be actively absorbed by plants. Do not forget about sulfur (6%). Unlike simple superphosphate, there is no gypsum in it. This means that it will not work for deoxidizing the soil.

This fertilizer is available in the form of granules, perfectly soluble in water. It is very important to bring it into the ground in early spring or autumn (after harvesting). Otherwise, the phosphorus simply does not have time to distribute in the ground. In addition, we would recommend that you water the solution of superphosphate with all the plants (at least twice a season) that lack phosphorus. Like many other mineral fertilizers, it can be used on any soils.

How to dose it?

Unlike many agents, fertilizer superphosphate double is not necessary to introduce strictly under the digging of the soil: it is enough just to scatter the granules on its surface in the dose indicated on the original packaging. However, its dosage largely depends not only on the type of cultural plant, but also on the characteristics of the soil itself.

So, agronomists recommend bringing in from 30 to 40 grams per square meter of soil, if you plan to plant vegetables or greens on this plot. In the case where your garden is located on a site with poor soils, the amount of fertilizer applied should be increased by approximately 20-30%. If you want to improve the taste of fruit, then under one fruit tree you need to pour about 500-600 g in autumn. It is most convenient to do this when digging in the near-trunk circles. In greenhouses and greenhouses fall asleep about 90-100 g, and when planting potatoes and other nightshade crops, put 3-4 grams per well.

Attention! In no case do not exceed the recommended dose, since in this case, root burns are possible. Mineral fertilizers are quite chemically aggressive substances, so you should not forget about it in any case.

Other recommendations for use

As we have already said, double superphosphate is perfectly suitable for its use on any kind of soil and for any agricultural plants. It is important to remember that a greatly reduced pH reaction of the soil can prevent its dissolution, and therefore, before application, the acidity must be reduced. For this, 200 g of ash should be added during digging. In addition, you can use 500 grams of regular lime per square meter of area.

Remember! To make superphosphate double granular should be only a month after deoxidation, otherwise it will lose almost all its useful properties. As we already said, it can be used not only when digging up, but also sprinkle a thin layer on the surface of the soil, or add to each hole.

Proportion should be looked at on the package, as for different types of plants it can seriously differ. With lime, urea or chalk, it should not be mixed in any way, because due to the chemical reaction that is taking place, the fertilizer becomes almost completely useless.

In addition, in this case, you can get compounds that do not have a very positive effect on the state of your plants, so it's better not to experiment.

What is it obtained from?

Like other types of mineral fertilizers, double granulated superphosphate (the application of which we have considered) is obtained from the bones of domestic animals, as well as from certain types of minerals. In other natural formations, there is simply not enough easily digestible phosphorus. Thus, Academician Fersman's words on phosphorus as a "biogenic mechanism of life and thought" are fully confirmed.

By the way, how much does this fertilizer cost? In most agricultural stores, its price does not exceed 100 rubles per kilogram. Of course, when buying its wholesale lots, the price will be slightly lower, so owners of large vegetable gardens should remember this.
