Cabbage seedling - how to grow it properly

Each summer resident does everything in order to collect a rich harvest of cabbage. And what about without it? Probably, it is not necessary to talk about how delicious the cabbage soup, vegetable salad and halophyte, the preparation of which is simply impossible without the use of cabbage. But in order to cook all this, you need to grow cabbage. And this process begins with the disembarkation. We'll talk about how to grow cabbage seedlings.

The first thing to do is prepare the seeds for planting. It is better to revise each grain and select only the best ones. Then all the seeds need to be checked for germination. To do this, they must be wrapped in a damp cloth and left for 4-5 days. To protect future plants from diseases, seeds must be soaked first in hot water (500) for 15 minutes. After that, the seeds are placed in cold water for 1 minute, and then into the nutrient solution for 13-15 hours. In order to improve the resistance of seeds to colds, they must be placed in the refrigerator and stored at -10C.

Sowing cabbage for seedlings should be done 55-60 days before landing in the open ground. These days include 8-12 days for emergence and 45-50 days for further growth. Thus, you can easily calculate the time of planting.

Cabbage seedlings Can be grown both directly in the greenhouse, and in the housing conditions. In both cases, soil from sod land, sand and a small amount of wood ash should be prepared (at the rate of 2 tbsp of ash per bucket of the mixture). The finished soil is scattered on boxes, the dimensions of which are approximately 70X70X7 cm. Small grooves are made on the surface of the soil, the distance between them is 8-10 cm. Small holes are made in the grooves, the distance between them should be 1-2 cm. 2 seeds of cabbage and filled with soil.

When cabbage seedlings will rise, the air temperature should be 6-70C. Such a regime is necessary to ensure that seedlings do not stretch. Also, a higher temperature can cause the plants to die. After about a week, the temperature should be increased to 150C in the daytime and to 120C in the night. Sprinkled at this time, the seedlings are moderately, using for this purpose water at room temperature.

After 10-12 days cabbage seedlings pass the stage of picks. Usually this is done when the first leaves appear on the plants. Dredge seedlings in glasses, pots, boxes or even directly into the greenhouse. Dive must necessarily, otherwise the plants will interfere with each other and will not be able to grow stronger. In order to sprout seedlings, cups or other containers must be filled with the same soil as used for seeding. Seedlings pre-watered with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. In the soil with a wooden rod pits are made into which one seedling is planted. It must be ensured that during the planting the root system is not broken . The earth around each seedling must be carefully pressed. Cabbage sprouts sprouts as the land dries up, not forgetting that the water temperature should be 18-200C. Excess moisture can lead to cabbage disease with a "black leg" and, as a result, death. 10-12 days after diving, cabbage seedlings begin to grow more slowly, but then the growth rate again increases.

Over the whole period of cultivation, seedlings need to be fed. The very first feedstuff is produced when the first leaves appear on the seedlings. It is best at this time to fertilize urea (for 10 liters of water 30 grams of urea). The second subcorrection is carried out approximately 15 days before disembarkation into the open ground. For this purpose, you can use a bird droppings solution (one part of the droppings should be filled with 2-3 parts of water) or a solution of urea and potassium chloride (or potassium sulfate), while observing the following proportions - 10-25 g of substance per 10 liters of water. If after picking the plants look weak, they should also be fed with urea solution.
