This school has its own history. The Dneprodzerzhinsk State Technical University was founded in the distant 1920 as Kamensk Polytechnic Worker. Later it was renamed into a technical school, and then - in the evening metallurgical institute.

In 1935, his graduate was the future secretary general of the USSR, a native of Dneprodzerzhinsk - LI Brezhnev.

At that time, students studied the fundamentals of metallurgical specialties relevant to this industrial area. In the 1960s the university was reorganized twice, and acquired its modern status in 1994.
