District Krasnoselsky. The Green Pearl of St. Petersburg

On the very outskirts of St. Petersburg is located the picturesque Krasnoselsky area, washed by the Gulf of Finland. With a fascinating history, he is also all right. Like most places in the city, it is rich in sights. The district originates from the intersection of Veterans Avenue and Zhukov Avenue, stretching far to the south. Not everyone knows that it began its existence long before the official date. In 1936 Krasnoselsky district was formed with the administrative center - Krasnoe Selo.

History in Detail

He united all the lands that surrounded the city with an interesting name. Approximately in 1955, all of its territory became part of the Lomonosov district. In the first years after the war, the outskirts of Leningrad, especially the southwestern ones, were actively restored. It was again rebuilt and Krasnoye Selo. The destruction was quickly removed, and active construction of housing units began. At the same time, at the end of the fifties, the territories of the earlier summer cottages - Ulyanka, Sosnovaya Polyana and Uritska - began to be reconstructed. The city grew rapidly and increased. The active construction and reconstruction of residential buildings was almost finished. Infrastructure began to improve and gain momentum, so there was a need to re-divide Leningrad into administrative areas.

Area and population at the initial stages of development

Although there were enough buildings in the city, there was still a need for new houses. This led to the decision to create a new district - Krasnoselsky. It was planned to allocate it for building. It still has an area of about one hundred and fourteen square kilometers to this day. At the time of dividing the city into districts, its population was less than two hundred thousand people, and there were about forty schools and gardens together. Apparently, he reached a good level of development and could rightly be called a part of the city.

Who inhabited the Krasnoselsky district?

For a long time, the area in the south of the Gulf of Finland was entirely Finnish, but immigrants from Finland soon joined them. From the ninth to the eleventh century, Slavs (Novgorodians) began to appear here. If you pay close attention to the modern map of Russia, you can see that many Finnish names are completely mixed with the Russians. It's surprising that people so different in culture and origin of nationalities coexisted so peacefully in one territory. It should be noted that the Slavic tribes made a great contribution to the development of Russian agriculture. It was they who could skillfully cultivate and plant fertile lands belonging to this area and owned by Baron Dudergofsky. On the territory of the Red Village stood the Lutheran Church. Approximately at the same time, the Northern War began, and the main task of the Russians was to restore the lost territories of the southern coast, including Krasnoe Selo.
They succeeded. After a short period of time, St. Petersburg becomes the capital, and the surroundings - the summer villages of the emperor and his entourage.

Krasnoye Selo of the 21st Century

To date, in the Krasnoselsky district live up to four hundred thousand people. It is recognized as the most "green" part of the city. It is here that you can find beautiful parks and gardens. But not everything is as perfect as it seems at first glance. Difficulties create the absence of its metro station. Everyone knows that for a densely populated territory this is a real problem, but the administration of the district is actively working on this issue. So there are good reasons for waiting for change.

Real estate and transport links

What is the situation with housing? Apartments (Krasnoselsky district) are mostly in a normal residential condition. It's nice that the streets are clean and well landscaped. As in all of Peter, the houses here are very diverse. As a result of the postwar reconstruction, two- and four-storey buildings appeared here, even wooden apartment buildings. They have become literally a visiting card of St. Petersburg and also very fond of tourists. For those who are looking for budget accommodation in the secondary market, Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg is ideal. It is necessary to recognize that the architectural and cultural monuments of the Krasnoselsky district does not differ, but still there is something to see. Several ancient pre-war estates can be of considerable interest for fans of architecture.

Transportation needs to be adjusted and improved at the moment. Often there is a problem with the shortage of public transport and the increase in the number of traffic jams. However, despite everything, the Krasnoselsky district continues to please the people with its landscapes and history. Those who have not yet visited this beautiful corner of St. Petersburg, it is necessary to fill this gap.
