Sosnovaya Polyana is a municipal district of St. Petersburg, which arose on the site of an ancient holiday village, as well as on the entire territory adjacent to it with picturesque forests. After the end of the Second World War, various enterprises began to appear here, so more housing was needed, which needed to provide workers. Thus, in this area intensive construction has been developed, thanks to which this area is now built up with high-rise buildings, entertainment centers and parks.

Description and further development

The Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg is an old district of the city, where this district is located. The area of the massif is 40 hectares, and the planned erected transformations are 219,000 square meters. There are about 52 thousand people living in this quarter.

Recently, a new concept of development was developed, this was done by the company "Renovation". Sosnovaya Polyana (municipal district) will receive a new well-organized urban environment, which will be fully provided with everything needed. Thanks to this, the quarter will acquire new engineering networks, as well as new schools, kindergartens and creative houses.

Place History

Until the beginning of the XVIII century in this area was mainly coniferous forest, which had an extent from the Volkhonskoye highway to the village of Volodarsky. A little later, Sosnovaya Polyana (St. Petersburg) began to be built from the south - from the side of the Peterhof road. At that time, only country estates were built there.

Shortly before the revolution, Sosnovaya Polyana was a dacha settlement with wooden buildings, which was practically destroyed during the hostilities.

Until the nineties of the XX century in this area you could see private cottages with kitchen gardens, which were later demolished. To date, the Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg is built up with well-maintained houses, and its peculiarity is that there is no industrial enterprise and no metro station. Sosnovaya Polyana is part of the Krasnoselsky district.

Infrastructure

In this district there are: 4 general education schools, 9 kindergartens, a lyceum, a boarding school, a vocational education institution and two higher educational institutions. In addition, the children can visit, the home of children's and youth creativity located there, as well as the school of arts.

In addition, Sosnovaya Polyana has 3 polyclinics, 42 consumer services facilities that provide various services, and 30 gyms, playgrounds and several leisure facilities operate in the microdistrict.

Stamp Symbolism

In the very center of the symbol embodying the district of Sosnovaya Polyana, a gold carriage is depicted, and just below it we see a branch that serves as a reminder that in this place there was a suburban settlement until the sixties.

The background part of the picture is presented in green and red shades, which are arranged in checkerboard pattern. The first of them symbolizes a well-organized and green area, and the second personifies courage and selflessness.

Where are the boundaries of the district?

The boundaries of the microdistrict, according to its charter, are:

• From the west - from the Veterans Avenue to the railway road, adjacent to the industrial zone;
• In the northern part of the district - from the strip of the Baltic direction to the housing development;
• Then the border follows Budenny Prospekt to the St. Petersburg Highway;
• In the north the district ends near the monastery of the Trinity-Sergius desert;
• From the east part of the quarter ends near the zone of the Peterhof roadway and the Ivanovka river.

The park "Sosnovaya Polyana" is the main pride of this municipal district. It was founded in the early XIX century in the territory of beautiful virgin forests. At that time there was only one manor.

The park area is planted with various trees, and also has original meandering paths and graceful canals. This place is something remotely resembles a beautiful forest, which is divided by the Veterans Avenue into 2 parts. Currently, there are various sports competitions there, and all the local people like to spend picnics in the nature in the park or just to walk around with their families.

In addition, in the Sosnovaya Polyana district there are still parts of the old buildings dating back to around 1968 and located on Pilyutova Street, as well as Manihina's old manor.

In this area of St. Petersburg there is another unique building with an atypical architecture for Russia - the Gothic house. It was built in the beginning of the XIX century and was intended for the storage of books, as well as all kinds of works of art. 5 years ago, the building was subjected to a devastating fire and now it has a sad appearance, but the city authorities promise to restore it and turn it into a recreation center for young people.

Across the road from this house there is another pride of this quarter - the famous villa Vorontsov. It was erected even earlier - approximately in the middle of the XVIII century. The chancellor himself was ruined, so he had to sell the dacha at the end of his life.

The natural heritage of this district is the Ivanovka River, flowing through the entire Krasnoselsky district.

Despite the fact that this municipal district is considered the historical property of the city, the city authorities have plans to develop and improve its infrastructure.
