Biography

Richard Viktorov was born in 1929 in Tuapse. Teen boy went to the front as a volunteer. After the war, Viktorov became a student of the Faculty of Philology. Then he entered the VGIK, the directing department. After receiving the diploma he worked for some time at the "Belarusfilm", and later - for many years at the Gorky film studio.

Director Richard Viktorov filmed films in the genre of science fiction. Such as he was in those years on the Soviet film studio was a bit. And it's not that this direction was not favored. Rather, in the domestic cinema science fiction for a long time could not be established. Moreover, the director believed that science fiction could become a broad field of filmmaking and include in itself genres such as drama, comedy, tragedy, a fairy tale and even a musical. In the seventies, what seems obvious today seemed to surprise Viktorov's colleagues.

"Moscow-Cassiopeia"

This film was the first sci-fi tape by Richard Viktorov. The film, which premiered in 1973, won tremendous success. This picture is intended for a teenage audience. He narrates about a star expedition to one of the planets in the constellation Cassiopeia.

The success of the film was largely contributed, of course, by a quality, interesting script. Its authors are Avenir Zak and Isai Kuznetsov.

"Children in the Universe"

The film about the journey to the unknown planet turned out to be so successful that when a year later the screens went on - "The Children in the Universe" - narrating about the space adventures of the crew captured by robots - unbelievable queues formed at the cassettes of Soviet cinemas. Both the children and their parents wanted to see the picture.

Films about the adventures of Soviet teenagers in the Cosmos had a huge success not only in the USSR, but also beyond. In terms of the number of awards received and awards, Viktorov's paintings in the domestic fantasy cinema can compete only with the film "Solaris" by Tarkovsky.

"Obelisk"

At some point, Richard Viktorov suddenly decided to take a short break in the creation of film fantasy and created a realistic picture based on the story of Vasil Bykov. The film "Obelisk" was released in 1976. A tragic story tells about the events of the Second World War. In the Belarusian village, occupied by Germans during the war, lived a young, respected teacher. In 1941 he went to the partisans. But the Germans seized the adolescents and announced that they would release them only if the teacher surrendered. He fulfilled the demand of the fascists, thereby condemning himself to death.

Many years later. Some of the rescued boys became a teacher and devoted many years to recovering the honest name of a man who had long been considered a traitor. After all, he surrendered himself voluntarily.

In 1982, the shooting of the film "Comet" began. Victorov did not succeed in completing this work. The director passed away during the filming.
