Decorative shrubs: acetic wood

The vinegar tree (or Sumy deerhogo) comes from North America. It grows in very severe conditions, on the dried up stony soils in the highlands. Sumy is very photophilic, well tolerates protracted droughts and cold winters. In addition, it can grow on infertile, saline soils. Specialists in the field of landscape design have long appreciated the stability and unpretentiousness of this Spartan plant. And most importantly for decorating the garden - sumac has a very attractive appearance.

The vinegar tree has an umbellate crown, large and dense foliage. By autumn, it acquires a mottled red-pink coloration. Abundantly covered with a red and purple pubescence, young shoots and mature trees look original and very impressive. By the end of the summer on the branches there are carmine-red fruit brushes. They are covered with bright red fluff. This decoration is kept on the branches throughout the winter, until the spring. The plant is relatively low and due to the numerous root offspring it often has a bushy growth.

Sumy deer (or acetic tree) - a plant unpretentious, it perfectly tolerates drought and, importantly, is resistant to air pollution. He prefers very bright places in the garden, but if necessary he can put up with a little shading. Sumy can grow absolutely on any soils, it easily withstands even an overabundance in the soil of lime, increased acidity and salinity. On a permanent place on the site, it is best to transplant the plant at the age of three. Sumas vinegar is much easier to take root after a spring transplant. The distance between young plants should be at least 1.5-2 meters. Root neck is 5 centimeters deep. After planting, the plant must be watered abundantly.

Further, the acetic tree requires a minimum of care. Only young plants should be watered only in hot, arid weather. Once a year, the tree is fed with a complex of mineral fertilizers. One square meter requires 50 grams of dry matter. In May, cut frost and dry shoots. If you regularly make such decorative pruning, the tree will be voluminous and lush. For the winter, the young Sumah plants are mulching well. In the autumn, tree seedlings are not recommended for planting, because they can freeze during the winter. But even if this happened, in spring the plant can recover from the kidneys of the middle and lower parts of the shoot.

Flowering occurs at 4-5 years of life. Term of life of sumac is short, it dies after 18-20 years. But the remaining developed root system is renewed by growth. Thanks to this, it quickly grabs the nearest space aggressively. As a rule, sumac does not suffer from anything, he does not have natural pests.

This plant looks great in the garden areas, it is used in the design of a hedge or as a separately growing shrub. The vinegar tree, a photo of which can be seen in the books of recipes, in the Caucasus and in Turkey, is used for marinating meat and as a seasoning for salad dressings.
