Crop planting in autumn is a necessary measure for a rich harvest in the summer

Currant prefers sandy loamy and loamy soils with sufficient moisture reserves. Planting in the fall of the currant is produced by two-year or one-year-old seedlings with a well-developed root system.

Accommodation

Planting of black currant in autumn should be carried out according to certain schemes.

  1. The distance between the rows is 2 meters, and between the plants in the rows - up to 1.5 meters.
  2. The ribbon scheme is distinguished by the thickened arrangement of bushes, and the distance between them is from 0.5 to 0.8 meters. Adult shrubs with this method will merge into a solid line, and they will need more careful pruning during the growing season.

At first, while the bushes did not grow, in the aisles you can grow early vegetables, which will be harvested before picking berries (radish, greens and legumes).

To plant the currant in autumn was successful and all the planting material took root, the roots of the seedlings need to be cut to healthy tissues. Then they must be dipped in a clay brewer and left so until the landing.

Landing

An inclined planting in the fall of the currant will ensure its best survival in the spring. Deepening is recommended at 10-11 cm. With this planting, the buds in the spring will give a powerful vertical increase, thanks to which a strong productive bush will quickly form. With a small direct planting of seedlings, the plant will develop as a low-yielding tree with a short vegetation period.

With a deep landing, especially on heavy soil, the root system will not have enough oxygen, and the plant will stop growing, which will also adversely affect the yield.

If the soil water is close, it is possible to plant autumn currents on hills or ridges (1 m wide).

During the placement of the root of the seedling in the planting hole, care should be taken to ensure that all roots are straightened and do not bend upward. Sprinkle the soil with humus and mineral fertilizers, slightly shaking the plant and periodically compacting the soil. Thus, there will be no voids in the root layer, and the earth will evenly fill the pit.

Recommended planting in autumn currants at once two or three varieties with different maturation periods.

Watering

When the hole is half-filled, watering is done (1/2 bucket per hole). Then they fill the earth, rammed it, water it again and mulch it with peat or humus (10 cm).

After planting all the seedlings, we need to loosen the soil in the aisles.

All varieties of currant are hygrophilous, since their roots are located 20-50 cm from the surface. If from autumn the water-charging irrigation was made, in spring the roots will begin to grow actively, thus ensuring early budding and abundant flowering. With a small amount of precipitation in summer, periodic irrigation currants are necessary, especially on light soil. In the absence of rain, the bushes should be watered at the beginning of June, when a strong growth of shoots begins, at the end of June - before flowering; In July, when berries are poured, in mid-August - after harvesting. And still need an autumn water recharge in October, if the autumn was dry.

The rate of irrigation per plant: 50-60 liters per 1 square. M. The water must moisten the whole root-bearing layer of soil (50-60 cm). In order not to rot the root neck, watering is done in the groove (groove) along the circumference of the crown projection or sprinkling. After irrigation, the obligatory procedure is the loosening of the rows.
