Crayfish in the pond

One of the most interesting and profitable businesses is the breeding of crayfish. And they are not engaged in large farms, but, as a rule, small domestic enterprises. Under all favorable conditions created for reproduction, growth of crayfish and their further realization, it is possible for a season not only to recoup their costs, but also to remain in good stead. On such an interesting and profitable business you can earn very well. In the framework of this article, we will consider some of the basics and components of the process.

To begin with, you need to realize that the organization itself, which requires breeding crayfish, in monetary terms will be about 200 000 rubles. It should be noted immediately that this is the maximum amount for proper registration of the habitat and content of these animals.

The initial stage will be excavation of the pit for the pond and its further arrangement, if the finished one is not available. Having excavated a pit, which, by the way, should preferably occupy an area within 30-60 sq.m. (Can be more) and have a depth of 1-3 (up to 6) meters, you need to transgress to the direct arrangement of the relief of its shore and bottom. The latter is best covered with a stone and sprinkled with river sand, which will improve the conditions for nutrition, mating and the common habitat of crayfish. The breeding of crayfish in the pond also requires the presence of clay or similar banks. This is necessary for the construction of animal burrows and reproduction. As an alternative to clay, hollow bricks can be used as a coastal edge, with holes ready for burrows. It is preferable to have not one, but several (3-4) cancer ponds, insuring themselves against the possible consequences of climatic or any other factors, and also from economic considerations.

The breeding of crayfish also requires the immediate launching of their specimens into the pond for further reproduction. For one described reservoir, about 150-200 copies are required. The main thing is to choose good individuals for a divorce. It should also be borne in mind that for one season the male can can fertilize up to 4 females. The latter produce a lot of eggs, but from the favorable brood of one female comes out about 30 young crayfish. So we have that the alleged increase in the cancer family in the pond is, according to modest estimates, more than 4500 per year (from the calculation of 160 females and 40 males). Thus, industrial crayfish breeding at home is quite productive.

Having dealt with the arrangement of the habitat, you need to keep in mind some more important details of this business. Do not forget that breeding crayfish still requires some care for the reservoir and proper feeding of arthropods. As for the care of water: it is necessary to change the order of 20-30% of its percentage after 2-3 weeks. Such a small percentage of replacement is that the microclimate of the reservoir is very vulnerable, and the change of a significant amount of water leads to a violation of the conditions of the crayfish, therefore, to their death.

Selection of food cancers is not particularly difficult, but it should be regular (every two days) in order to stop cancer cannibalism, which is often among these arthropods. Under favorable conditions and abundant nutrition, a cancerous individual reaches commercial sizes in 3-5 years. Directly feeding them preferably with earthworms, this is cheap and does not lead to clogging of the pond. But as a food for cancers you can use meat, bread, larvae, fish, etc.

Regarding the period of cancer reproduction, this is approximately February-March or October-November, depending on the latitude of the reservoir placement, climatic and other natural conditions.

Thus, breeding crayfish is a very profitable business. But it is worthwhile to take care of the sale of products and the collection of necessary permits (if any) of competent authorities.
