Wood ash as a fertilizer - an indispensable assistant in the garden and in the garden

The combustion product of any wood can be used for feeding acidic and neutral soils. Because of the high percentage of phosphorus and potassium, it is perfect for fertilizing vegetables, shrubs and fruit trees. In addition, wood ash (composition) contains iron, zinc, calcium, sulfur, so it is used in growing ornamental plants.
It is known that berry crops negatively react to the fertilizer containing chlorine. A substitute for such compounds for the acceleration of growth and increase the fruiting of currants, strawberries and raspberries can become wood ash as a fertilizer. She perfectly interacts with the family of pumpkin, to which are cucumbers, squash, and zucchini. The introduction of ash in a couple of tablespoons of ash during the planting of cabbage seedlings in the open ground will protect it from the black leg and keel - diseases that are very susceptible to this culture. For tomatoes, peppers and aubergines, wood ash is applied as a fertilizer in 3 tablespoons to each well. During the digging of beds for pumpkin cultures, it is distributed on the surface of the soil one glass per square meter, and in the areas where Solanaceae are planned to be planted - 3 cups per same area.

To increase the yield of cherries and plums, wood ash as a fertilizer is applied no more than once in three years. It is distributed in a dry condition with a uniform layer over a previously excavated groove with a depth of 10-15 cm around the tree. For this treatment it will take approximately 2 kg per plant or a bucket of solution (2 cups dry composition per 10 liters of water). After that, the groove is covered with earth. In the same way, the tree ash is applied to the black currant bushes. On one of her bush it is necessary to take three glasses.

The standard composition of the fertilizer in liquid form is prepared from the calculation of 100-150 g of ash per 10 l (bucket) of water. To avoid precipitation, the solution should be constantly mixed. For tomatoes, cabbage and cucumbers, enough to pour 500 ml of ash-water composition per plant.

An excellent way to protect is dusting. This measure is preventive in nature and protects against diseases and pests. This procedure is best done early in the morning, while the leaves have dew. This helps to consolidate the ash on their surface. If, for some reason, dusting is possible only in the daytime, then before the beginning it should be sprinkled with plain water.

Wood ash as a fertilizer is also used in a liquid form for spraying. To do this, sifted ash in the amount of 300 g pour hot water and then boil for about half an hour, remove from heat, defend and filter. The broth is mixed with a bucket of water and 40-50 grams of soap. Spraying is carried out in the evening, provided that on this day there was no precipitation.

If you spill some ash around plants that suffer from snails and slugs, then after a while they will leave the site. During the digging of the garden with heavy soil, the product of burning wood is brought in the autumn, for sandy loam - in the spring.
