Corn flakes: harm and benefit to the body

Sooner or later, every person thinks about how useful the food that he uses daily. And this is not surprising, because from everywhere we hear that none of the products today are not natural.

Corn flakes have become very popular among consumers today. The harm and benefit of this product is the subject of controversies among nutritionists around the world. Of course, it is very convenient - poured a dry breakfast with milk and after 1-2 minutes you can start eating. However, not everything is as easy as it seems at first glance.

Natural corn flakes: harm and benefit

In order to understand this difficult issue, we need to remember how this dish was born. It is interesting that corn flakes, whose harm and benefit are very ambiguous, were released at one of the plants as a result of a technological error. The unlucky bakers forgot inadvertently that they had kneaded the dough, and it turned into clots. It was decided to fry them and sell them under the guise of a new product. It worked: flakes every day won more and more consumer love.

However, at the first stage of this corn story, there was no harm in any way. No additives that improve the taste and extend the shelf life, this product was not. But over time, everything changed.

Modern corn flakes: harm and benefit

Gradually, the ready-made breakfasts were added with glaze, honey, and then a variety of not very useful components, most of which begin with the ill-fated "E".

If you breakfast this way 1-2 times a week, nothing terrible, of course not happen. Just remember that the corn flakes are best filled with milk or kefir. It will be very good if the products are fat-free. The fact is that honey and glaze, as well as a certain amount of oil, which is delayed in the product after roasting, can negatively affect the figure, being deposited on the sides in the form of excess fat, if you use corn flakes too often. Their caloric content averages 350 (+/- 10) kcal per 100 g.

In addition, like other products that have been fried, flakes can cause cancer. However, there is not much fat in them - about 7 g. Carbohydrates are another matter. There they are about 60 g. For this reason, corn flakes are better for children and young people - they have a fast metabolism, and this is unlikely to affect the figure.

A variety of unnatural additives - flavors, sweeteners, dyes - is what makes corn flakes (the benefits and harm of which after reading the composition become not so obvious thing) is not the best option for daily use. In addition to the general negative effects on the body, they can cause allergies.

Corn flakes are a source of fiber. However, in comparison with the maize of natural dietary fiber in them is much less. And the reason is that the grains are exposed to very different influences: grinding, roasting, pressing. As a result, a significant part of the nutrients simply collapses.

As you can see, there are more negative sides in the use of corn flakes. And this means that for daily use they do not fit.
