CNC machine and plywood milling

Milling plywood is one of the most common operations in the production of furniture for home and office. The material is more durable than chipboard, chipboard and has a relatively low cost. When cutting workpieces on CNC machines, a laser or a cutter is used. Automated process facilitates the processing of the tree and increases productivity.

Why choose sheet material?

In memory of the machine, a unique pattern is laid, which is immediately transferred to the surface of the blanks. Processing is defined as milling the plywood on the CNC. St. Petersburg is not the only city where manufacturers have mastered multi-axis machines. Technological innovations have made furniture enterprises competitive.

Puff material serves for decades, buyers tend to choose furniture from plywood. High demand for products from consumers was noted. They order their own drawings on the visible surfaces of cabinets, sofas. Advertising signs are also made of sheet material. They have a durable, aesthetic appearance after painting and do not require significant customer costs.

Milling of plywood is a process of repetitive actions of the working tool, leaving no burrs on the edges. Automatic work shop allows you to instantly change the tool, ensuring the continuity of the production of cutting.

Rotary movement of the tool is better?

Owners of furniture shops need laser cutting and milling on plywood. Patterns for each type of processing differ in their characteristics. The processing technology takes place in various modes: temperature, high-speed. Everything depends on the desired result.

Let's highlight the features of machine tools:

  • Laser cutting takes place at high temperature of the beam. It leaves dark burnt stripes and spots on the surface. The pattern is obtained in the form of an impression, it does not require additional processing of the edges.
  • The milling of the plywood does not heat the cutting site. The cutter gradually chooses the grooves and makes the surface smooth, light.

Between the layers of the workpiece there is an adhesive material. This limits the selection of the drill bit. If the tool does not have sufficient strength, it will instantly become dull.

Problems in processing

Milling of sheet materials often takes place at an axial size of the billet no more than 10 cm. After exceeding the size, special purpose machines are required, an expensive tool is chosen for harder alloys. However, this treatment can not be performed with a laser treatment. The seams will turn out uneven and burnt.

The beam effectively burns a thickness of about 1 cm. At this the laser exhausts its possibilities to obtain a qualitative detail. The milling cutter gets to the most difficult places of the product when the machine is three-axis. Additional axes of the clamping table allow to solve the most complex production tasks. With the use of 5D-processing, exact copies of masterpieces of art are produced.

However, milling does not allow obtaining such precision as on a laser machine. The edge with the magnification is markedly different from the rectangular. The output of the tool rounds off the place of the cut, which also creates pressure on the workpiece. The beam does not put any pressure on the plywood sheet and precisely cuts the given layers. This results in very fragile layouts and figures.

Features of the cutting process

Milling of plywood loads the workpiece, it will be necessary to fasten it with clamps to the base of the table. The rotation of the tool tries to move the sheet along the axis, and the vertical pressure presses the part to the table. But when the cutter comes out of the holes, a slight lifting of the wood is observed. This leads to burrs and chips.

The final product is obtained by repeated processing of the material with various tools:

  • End - the manufacture of grooves and internal slices.
  • Cylindrical - cutting flat blanks.
  • Shaped - make bending grooves.

Description of the cut

Milling of CNC plywood is made by a single-pass, two-pass or four-tool. However, with an expensive cutter, two types of processing are still required: roughing, finishing. A widely used interpolator is a coordinate converter for processing cylindrical blanks.

Metalworking companies offer to manufacture any part according to the customer's sketches. It is enough to send by mail a file of the established format and after a few days it is already possible to pick up the finished product. It is interesting to customers of advertising organizations. Banners, mockups are obtained original drawings.

Attractiveness is created due to the volume obtained when processing plywood by engraving. Automated work of the machine provides precise contours with smooth curves. To achieve a similar quality by hand is almost impossible.
