List of books to read each: Classic

Any list of books that everyone should read, as a rule, is devoid of objectivity. Nevertheless, all these lists have one important common feature, expressed in the compulsory availability of classical literature. Therefore, I propose to consider the classic list of books that everyone should read. Some of the works listed below will be familiar to you, others, perhaps, will be a pleasant discovery.

10 books that everyone should read

"Iliad" and "Odyssey" of Homer. Ancient Greek poems, many remember well from school. And the fact that these works remain popular for hundreds of years, worthy of respect. The most surprising is that they inspired scientists to discover ancient civilizations, in particular, Troy.

"The Barsetshire Chronicles" by E. Trollope. This book will appeal to fans of large-scale narratives, because it consists of 6 novels. Not surprisingly, this cycle is called the encyclopedia of Victorian England, its mores and characters.

"Pride and Prejudice" D. Austin. It is unlikely that there will be a woman who has not heard about this novel. And this is quite logical, because it is regularly filmed. In 2003, this novel took the second position in the list of the best books. In the mentioned year, the list of books that everyone should read was compiled by BBC.

"Adventures of Gulliver" by D. Swift. This satirical-fantastic work was written almost three hundred years ago, but to this day has not lost its value, because it witty and brightly ridiculed social and human vices.

"Jane Eyre" by S. Bronte. By popularity and the number of adaptations, the novel "Jane Eyre" can only be compared with the book "Pride and Prejudice", but in D. Austin's novel there are many more passions.

"War and Peace" by L. Tolstoy. Many people started reading the epic in school, however, not everyone coped with this difficult matter. If you have a similar story, try to get acquainted with the novel again.

"David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens. This is one of Dickens's most popular books . It is worth noting that the novel is largely autobiographical. In addition, literary critics dubbed him an educational work.

"Fair of Vanity" by W. Tuckeray. This novel was written by a journalist, therefore, despite the volume, is read on the fly. In addition, he is full of wit and analyzes with surprising accuracy human characters and deeds. Recently, the "Vanity Fair" was filmed. But, unfortunately, not a single film will convey the satirical talent of Tuckeray.

"Madame Bovary" G. Flaubert. The plot of this book is quite simple, but at the same time it differs in its unique details and original form of presentation. In 2007, this work was recognized as one of the greatest novels of all time. Turgenev called him the best "in the whole literary world." The novel is on the list of books that everyone should read.

"Middlemarch" D. Eliot. I was very pleased to see this book among the best, because it is one of my favorite works. This novel is very rich, interesting, and most importantly - dynamic. It consists of several storylines that reveal the most diverse aspects of human relationships. "Middlemarch" is worthy to be included in the list of books that everyone should read.
