Kleshchevina. Cultivation and care of her

Kleshchevina, the cultivation of which we will consider in this article, refers to plants belonging to the family of euphorbia. This is a fairly thermophilic plant, so in regions where there are rarely frosty winters, castor oil can be grown for several consecutive years. What not to say about the middle belt of our country, where it is bred only as an annual one. The grown up castor-bush bushes are really beautiful, so they look great not only in the gardens or in the gardens, but also in the city squares or parks. From castor oil you can even create beautiful compositions.

In spite of the fact that the final dimensions of the castor oil plant depend on its grade, in principle, it can be considered unpronounceable for plant cultivation. Even if the soil is poor, then do not worry about how to grow castor oil. This plant feels great on such soils. True, and its development will be slow. Therefore, castor oil is best grown on fertile soils. Ideally, if it is chernozems. Of course, previously fertilized with organic fertilizers.

Kleshchevina, cultivated and practiced by some gardeners, truck farmers, very "respects" those places that are well illuminated by the sun. In this case, she will not refuse from abundant watering. It is not advisable to plant castor oil in open areas, which are blown through by the winds. From this, its stems can either break or begin to spread to the ground, so they will need an additional garter to pre-stuck to the ground stakes.

When to plant castor? I must say that even those gardeners who have not previously encountered such a plant as castor oil, cultivation of it from seeds are practiced rather freely, for special efforts will not be required. To do this, all that is needed is to drop the seeds directly into the soil. But it is desirable to do this when it warms up well. If you put the seeds in a cold ground, they probably will not rise. And if the shoots appear, they may soon die from spring frosts.

After the ripening of castor oil, and if it is planned to grow it further, seeds must be collected from its mature seed capsules. However, this must be done before the autumn frosts "hit", so that the seed boxes have time to ripen. The matter is that castor oil blooms only four months after planting, and the ripening of seeds occurs a month after this. From this it can be concluded that in order to obtain quality seed, it is best to plant castor oil not with seeds, but with seedlings. Although, with the collection of seeds, you can not especially bother, but simply order these via the Internet or by mail.

Kleshchevina, the cultivation of which has recently become very popular, has thick-coated seeds. At first glance, they may seem dense, but shoots quite freely break through such a shell. So you do not even need to pre-soak the seeds before planting. Nevertheless, it is very difficult to grow castor oil from seeds, and this process requires patience and perseverance. And most importantly - do not forget the planted seeds often and abundantly watered.

The castor seeds are planted approximately to a depth of 9-10 cm. In some cases, the seeds can simply be laid on the ground, and sprinkled with fertile soil from above. Sometimes it is practiced to plant seeds in an ordinary way in boxes, although to make seedlings really good, the seeds for it are best placed immediately in separate pots. So each shoot will have enough room for growth, and during the transplant the roots will not be traumatized. Seeds for seedlings are best sown in early March, at this time of year the plant will develop well.
