The root of the fragrant plant does not lag behind the greenery. How good he is in stew and fried! Throughout the winter it is easy to prepare salad and vegetable patties. But how long is the path from the grain to the delicacy on the table!

Especially for a long time the celery root ripens, the cultivation of which lasts from the middle of February to the very frost. The process begins with the preparation of seeds. They are capricious, they require preliminary preparation, otherwise they will not rise. The task of the preparatory stage is to awaken the seed, to release it from excess essential oils, which, as a preservative, hinder the development of the embryo.

To prepare seeds for sowing, the easiest way to use a solution of potassium permanganate is pink. In it, the seeds should be soaked for 30-40 minutes, then rinse thoroughly under running water. So that they are not lost during water procedures, they should be placed in a thin tissue pouch. Rinsed seeds need to be slightly dried to make it convenient to sow. This can be done on a paper towel.

After drying the celery root, the cultivation should immediately be transferred to the next phase: seed sowing. Deepen them into the ground is not recommended, it is enough to line one by one on a moistened layer of soil in a box and sprinkle with a slightly sandy mixture. After sowing care is needed to prevent the drying of the soil and cooling below 22 degrees. After 2 weeks, there are friendly shoots.

In the first month the seedlings grow slowly, this property has a root celery. Growing seedlings should be continued in the most lit place at a temperature of 14-16 degrees. Well responds to seedling sprinkling with warm water. In the phase of two leaves it must be dived either in a greenhouse or in separate cups. In extreme cases, you can conduct thinning, leaving between plants 4-6 cm.

How to grow celery cherry? His agricultural technology is practically no different from the root, only planting it can be 2 weeks later. The sweetest ones are the petioles, if at the end of the vegetation they are wrapped with burlap or paper at the base. They will turn white and lose their bitterness.

Before planting celery in the open ground, seedlings need to be hardened for several days. Very important for a good harvest is the process of planting in a permanent place, otherwise you can spoil the celery root. Cultivation of a large root is ensured by a small planting of seedlings to avoid the formation of a "beard" around the root. The distance between the plants in the row should not be less than 10 cm, and the row spacing should be 40-60 cm. The narrower the aisle, the larger the distance between the bushes.

Until autumn the plants need to be watered and loosened between rows. Once, 3-4 weeks after disembarkation, it is desirable to feed the plants with nitroammophous (adhere to the norms from the instructions on the preparation). It is good to celery on alkaline soils, acid should be subjected to liming. Before the first freezing, the roots of the plant are removed. Leaves should be cut to the root, and the fruit stored in a cool basement in boxes.
