How to embroider a semicircle? Description of technology for beginners

Hand embroidery is one of the indispensable participants of almost every model show. Having acquired popularity centuries ago, this kind of decorative needlework remains at the peak until now. Decorate almost everything with embroidery - from clothes to interior items. Apply a large number of stitches. Fashion designers and talented seamstresses spend more than one day trying to figure out how to embroider. Semicircle, cross, smoothness, rococo, coiling or stitches - each technique requires great perseverance, attention and patience.

To admit mistakes in such works is impossible - every technique is specific in that even a small mistake will be evident not only to specialists, but also to ordinary consumers. For example, the technique of semicircles in the case of uneven and irregular disposition of inclined features can significantly spoil the appearance of the product. Instead of a neat, even picture, there will be confusion, the work will look messy.

Types of stitches

There are a lot of stitch variations in needle embroidery. Most of the canvas is usually filled with a classic equilateral cross. However, there are schemes in which apart from the classic stitches there are incomplete cross, backstitch, 1/4 and 3/4 crosses, and also French knots. Each of the types of stitches has a direct relation to embroidery by a cross, so most of them have to be worn by every embroiderer over time. Understand how to embroider a semicircle, it is necessary to detail and carefully. The slightest errors in the embroidery will cost hours of reworking the canvas.

Cross-stitch embroidery technology

Embroidered cross-stitch is familiar to most of them from childhood - many grandmothers hung a carpet with deer, embroidered by hand, on the wall. This is an incredibly laborious work, which not everyone can appreciate. To learn how to embroider a cross, you need to learn the skill of laying threads.

For work, you need a canvas ("Aida" or "Len 32"). Canvas is the kind of base for embroidery. It is dense and strong, the holes into which the needle is inserted are clearly visible. Some masters use the canvas to work with small-cloth matter, which is pulled out of work by a mote. So work, for example, with a white cloth and white threads - the canvas is used in contrasting colors, so that white on white does not tire the eye.

Direction of needle movement

To perform a traditional cross, it is necessary to take a needle for embroidery (it is thinner than classical and sharper) and thread. Embroider with threads specially designed for this. They can be purchased in shops for needlework. It's easy to figure out how to embroider a semicircle. The technique is simple.

The first stitch is made on the selected canvas. To do this, the needle with the thread from the wrong side is pushed into the lower left corner of the square. Then, the needle point is inserted from the front side to the underside in the upper right corner. On the front, a diagonal stitch is produced, directed from left to right. From this point on the wrong side, the needle is drawn to the lower right-hand point on the front side. Then another diagonal stitch is laid - from the right bottom point to the upper left. The needle goes out. The result is a traditional cross.

Embroidery of a number of crosses

If you want to embroider a series of crosses, the number of inclined lines is first required, for example, to the place where the color changes, and then the stitches in the other direction are laid down in the reverse order.

With this embroidery technique on the wrong side, only straight sticks with sparse longer transitions will be visible - this will show the change of rowing. Most masters eventually come to the idea that you can sometimes sacrifice the beauty of the underside in order to make the front part look beautiful. Especially it can be actual for embroidering semi-crosses.

Embroidery technique of semicircle

In fact, the semi-cross is obtained when embroidering the first stick for a full cross. When the needle moves from the lower left corner to the upper right, an inclined stick is obtained, which is a semi-cross. The needlewomen of the whole world agree that each technique can be changed to the needs of the master. In order to deal with embroidery and not get mixed up in the pattern, you must carefully read the description of the scheme.

Features of the semicircle

It is not enough to understand how to embroider a semi-cross. For beginners, the methodology of work often becomes incomprehensible. Embroidery with this technique has many features and technological nuances, which are useful to know before starting to work.

How to properly embroider a semicircle, so that the work looked beautiful:

  • For different parts of the circuit different stitch angles can be used. Before you start, it is important to read the instructions carefully. It is considered the main slope from left to right, this is the bottom of the full cross. However, there are drawings in which different slopes are used simultaneously.
  • This embroidery technique shows the shortcomings of the front side very clearly. It is impermissible to admit flaws. The first and last stitches should be embroidered especially neatly.

Certain nuances are associated with the movements of the needle:

  • Because of the frequent movement of the needle, there may be lumbago. To ensure that the thread does not twist, it is sometimes necessary to release the needle freely. This way a twisted thread will unwind, and embroidery will look beautiful.
  • To fix the thread from the wrong side, more stitches are required than with classical embroidery.

Embroider in this technique can not only be straight, but there are nuances:

  • Embroidery can be illuminated. In order to embroider one dark cross surrounded by light, it is better to make a few stitches in the same place, but take the thread in a more delicate addition. In this case, the end of the thread, which will then be passed under the light, will not be noticeable and will not spoil the pattern.
  • To understand how to embroider a semicircle is not difficult. It is important to ensure that the result of the work is not spoiled by the embroidery frame. If you break or stop the process, you need to remove the frame, frame and any auxiliary tool. Even with a careless hand, you can move the thread.
  • The work can change shape depending on the inclination of the stitch. In a baguette workshop this can be corrected.
  • When using canvas, the tension of the semicircle should be avoided. Otherwise, holes will appear in the puncture sites of the tissue.

Embroidery direction

To understand with what direction to embroider a semicircle, everyone can. The main thing is that the front part should be flat.

In order to move along the diagonals with the half-crosses, the needle must be taken out not in a straight line, but at an angle, slightly shifting in the diagonal direction. Then a straight line will be obtained from the semicircles directed in one direction.

Partial cross

In addition to the concept of the cross, there is also a combined semi-cross. It is embroidered easily, but some skill is required. Depending on whether the upper is a semi-cross or a lower one, a needle is inserted, and the first stitch is made. Consider the upper semicircle. How to embroider it, it is easy to understand. There may be left-handed and right-directed upper or lower crosses. The first stitch is made from the upper left corner. The point of the needle engages in the lower right corner. Then embroider a piece of the cross. To do this, the tip of the needle is removed to the upper right corner and inserted into the middle of the cell.

The upper and lower half-skirts should, like any cross, have the same direction of the upper stitch. If the first long stitch is made from the bottom corner, then all the stitches must begin in this row in the same way. They often try to embroider a small part first, but only then cover it with a long side. To do this, they first do the same as embroider with a semi-cross. For the upper combed cross, the needle is first inserted from the wrong side into the left corner. The point is pierced not to the bottom point, but to the middle of the square, to the place of interlacing of the four strands, of which the cell of the canvas consists. Then the needle is removed from the wrong side to the lower left corner. The needle then enters the upper right corner and is displayed in the middle or bottom left corner of the next element.

Most of the fabrics that are used as canvas, do not allow too closely monitor what part is embroidered in the combined cross. Due to the movement of the fibers it turns out that the strands are shifted, and the large and small dashes are turned to the back. An important point: you need to make sure that the big dash overlaps the small one and there are no spaces. If you stick the needle too far from the intersection of the fibers of the canvas, then in the middle a projection can be formed that will be visible. Thus, in one cell, from which one traditional cross is obtained, you can embroider 4 small ones.

Application of techniques

Having figured out how to embroider a cross and a semicircle, you can take up work on paintings with partial embroidery. These types of stitches are used to more realistically convey the texture on the image, qualitatively draw facial features or transition from one color to another to make it smooth.

It looks very nice combined semicrest. How to embroider it, you can see the diagrams. In combination with traditional techniques, such works look nontrivial and realistic.
