Canadian Sanguine: Cultivation and healing properties

Unfortunately, sanguine is not very common in our gardens, but in vain. This perennial plant is able to please the eye at a time when the others are just beginning to wake up after hibernation. And let it bloom just a couple of weeks, but during this period it completely draws attention to itself and serves as an accent among other colors.

Description of the plant

The Canadian sanguine is a perennial blooming in early spring. Its beauty is sometimes compared with water lilies, but it does not grow on water. This similarity is manifested exclusively in the form of flowers. In all other respects, these two beauties are completely opposite.

Sanguine canadian in natural conditions can meet only in the northern part of America. The name in Latin means "blood root". This is due to the fact that, with the slightest damage to tissues, the plant begins to produce reddish orange juice. It was they who used to be painted by their Indians. The flowers are dazzlingly white in color and in the sun it sometimes seems that they simply reflect the rays.

Characteristics of the sanguine

The Canadian Sanguine has a powerful horizontal rhizome. It looks like fir-tree lapnik, and its diameter can reach 2 cm. The plant is renewed independently due to the fact that new buds are constantly laid on young branches. In general, adult internodes can live for about three to four years. The root system develops quite quickly. It is able to form a complex root system in the kidney. Sanguinaria grows quite unusually, leaving young shoots to the ground, and the kidneys coming to the surface. This gives her some added charm and riddle.

The Canadian sanguine can reach a height of not more than 15 cm, but this does not deprive the charm of its bushes, which every year grow and grow. Leaves in the flowering period are almost invisible, they just wrap themselves up with a flower spike. However, when used in plantings on the flowerbed, this beauty has its drawback: by the end of summer its leaves fall and in their place are formed thawed patches.

Flowering sanguine

On each kidney sanguine there is one leaflet and only one flower stem. The diameter of the flowers reaches only 5 cm, but its beauty can be compared with the pion. Now you can meet both non-mosquito and terry sanguine. Both these forms were not derived selectively, but were the result of a natural mutation. The Canadian sanguine has earned such a great popularity mainly due to its colors, which have a white, slightly pearly color. In the shade, it seems that the flower shines from the inside.

The flowering period lasts a couple of weeks. However, this bright decoration is enough to achieve a very powerful effect. It is not able to eclipse almost none of the early-flowering plants. At the same time, the duration of flowering can significantly increase if the weather is cool. Sharp warming, on the contrary, shortens the period.

Decorative use in horticulture

The Canadian sanguine can be successfully applied to focus on the most original compositions, it's very good to do it in the front garden. It can also highlight decorative woody shrubs.

Since the sanguine is beautifully growing in the shade, it is possible to create glowing spots in the shadow corners of the garden with its help.
