Basic rules of conduct and duties of a pedestrian on the road. Rights and duties of pedestrians

From the earliest childhood parents instill in their children the main rules of behavior on the road, tell when it is possible to cross the roadway, and when it is impossible, they say that the most important thing on the road is attentiveness, not fussiness. The study of traffic rules (hereinafter referred to as traffic rules) is sometimes carried out in a game form: quizzes with questions in the kindergarten, educational books and drawings, even models of puppet traffic lights - all this helps the child remember the basic information that is likely to save his life.

Although most of the traffic rules concern, rather, the driver who is behind the wheel of the car, without the competent behavior of pedestrians during the crossing of the carriageway, these rules would be meaningless. Their updates occur annually (rarely - several times a year), so for greater confidence in their safety they should be monitored by all road users.

Who are pedestrians?

It will be right to say that they are all people who move on foot. If a person walks along the roadside and pushes a bicycle next to him, he is a pedestrian. If he stopped walking, got on a vehicle and drove off - it means he has already become a full participant in the traffic, in this case a bicyclist.

Pedestrians are recognized as people moving in wheelchairs or on rollers. And also driving alongside a moped. Therefore, it will be useful for everyone to know the rights and duties of pedestrians.

It does not matter if you have any kind of transport with you - while you walk, you are a pedestrian. Let us give an example. Even if the bus driver leaves it to reach the nearest store and buy drinking water, then, as long as he stands on his own feet, he will be considered a pedestrian. What follows from this? The fact that all the general duties of pedestrians will apply to him, too.

How to behave on the road?

Parents should explain these principles to their children from an early age. To learn how to properly behave on the roadway with other road users, you need to look in the SDA collection. The duties of the pedestrian there are described in a separate chapter, with a convenient division into subparagraphs. This is necessary for the ordering of information and quick memorization. But many will be surprised to start reading them. In fact, most of this information is known by most since childhood.

If you systematize the duties of a pedestrian, briefly and effectively formulate them, you can conditionally divide them all into the following groups:

- rules of conduct when crossing the roadway;

- rules of conduct with motor transport;

- rules of behavior on the road in the dark.

What does a pedestrian have to know?

The roadway is not a place for games and frivolous behavior. Knowledge of their duties and their observance will allow the passenger to behave more confidently on the street.

We list the duties of a pedestrian on the road:

- if there is no sidewalk or footpath, then move along the roadside along the road;

- people have to cross the road only by crossing or "zebra", if they are not - the carriageway is allowed to cross at the intersections along the sidewalk or curb;

- if there is no adjustable transition, then the pedestrian can appear on the road only after he is sure of his safety, that there is no fast moving machine next to him and he will have time to pass before the vehicle arrives, and so on.

How should a pedestrian behave at night?

There are certain duties of a pedestrian at night. This knowledge is usually ignored, considering unnecessary formality. However, the rules for the movement of pedestrians on the carriageway at night are not accidental. Most traffic accidents happen at night. The silhouette of a pedestrian can be seen indistinctly, which, perhaps, will provoke the driver to commit a fatal error.

The duties of a pedestrian when crossing a road in the dark are related to the presence of any object with retroreflective (reflective) elements: a patch on a jacket, T-shirt or shirt, for example. The driver will never look at such a pedestrian, even if he stays in the shade. Now there are a lot of shops that are ready to help people in this matter: what objects with reflective elements there are not on sale!

How to get out of public transport?

There are rights and duties of pedestrians when leaving public transport. Everyone must know them. A person, being at a stop, should also understand his rights and responsibilities, which are prescribed in the traffic rules. The duties of a pedestrian during an exit from the transport are to leave it only when the doors are fully opened. Do not rush, do not push, do not jump out of the vehicle, as soon as the doors slightly open. Do not ask the driver to stop in a place not designated for this. This is important not only because of the fact that for such a stop the driver himself can get a fine. Such requirements are explained by the fact that a passenger can get under the wheels of another vehicle, whose driver in this situation absolutely did not expect your appearance in the wrong place from the bus and did not have time to brake.

How to cross the road after leaving the bus?

When it was possible to safely exit the transport, you need to carefully consider the way to cross the roadway. If you traveled by bus or trolley, then you need to cross the road behind it, but not in front. Next, driving cars should see your intention to cross the road.

If a pedestrian passes a pedestrian in front of a bus, the driver will not be able to see and brake the car after it. This can lead to an accident.

Also, the accumulation of people at a stop is undesirable. This applies especially to the morning and evening hours, when the majority goes to work. There is a danger that because of the crush someone from pedestrians can be pushed out onto the roadway. If the driver of the vehicle does not have time to react and rebuild, then this situation will end badly.

Frequent pedestrian errors

Quite often pedestrians neglect their duties, thereby creating a threat to the order of the road. But most importantly, they endanger their own lives. Quite often, people violate one of the main laws of traffic rules - the transition of the road only to green light. Because of the haste or simply unwillingness to stand in the cold for an extra minute, until the traffic light changes the color of the signal, they run across the road, completely oblivious to the light that burns. It is unacceptable.

The second, no less serious mistake that pedestrians allow is the crossing of the road in the wrong place. The cars have to be braked, letting the runner pass through the roadway, but if anything happens, the fault for the accident will fall entirely on the pedestrian.

Dangers of a pedestrian crossing

Rules for the movement of a pedestrian are built in such a way that he and the drivers of cars can feel comfortable. Since they will be included in a well-established traffic mechanism, where all participants know their place and move smoothly and confidently. But, unfortunately, there is a reverse situation, when there is a violation of traffic rules, and even a special transition "zebra" can carry danger to a person.

All over the world this part of the roadway is one of the safest for a pedestrian. But in Russia it, unfortunately, is not so. Most accidents and raids on people occur precisely on the "zebra" because of the inability of drivers and pedestrians to behave rationally.

The duties of a pedestrian are to not forget: "zebra" is part of the road on which cars are traveling, sometimes at high speed. Before you go to the road, you need to look around. After all, it may happen that, without noticing a quickly rushing car, you will begin crossing the road, and the driver will not be able to brake.

Having stepped one foot on the "zebra", the pedestrian should stop. Thus, he will demonstrate his intention to cross the road, and the drivers of cars will be able to brake in time, passing it.

Road signs to help the pedestrian

Among the many road signs, there are those that can greatly facilitate life. It is also the responsibility of a pedestrian to know them by heart.

Once in an unfamiliar crossroads, any person looks for a sign of a pedestrian crossing with his eyes : the little man walks along the "zebra" in a white triangle on a blue background. It shows the places permitted for the intersection of the road.

A crossed out man in the red circle can only mean that the crossing is strictly forbidden, since this can lead to danger to life (too much traffic on the street, for example).

The sign of the underground passage (the little man goes down the stairs downwards) is also very useful. If the terrain is unfamiliar, but you see such a symbol, you do not have to worry about how to cross the street.

Public transport stops are also marked by road signs: a bus, a trolleybus or a tram in a blue rectangle. Seeing such a symbol, you can stop and wait for the nearest carrier.

Trained children's traffic rules

As mentioned above, the child receives basic knowledge of the rules of the road in kindergarten or in junior classes. But parents with their own example should show the child the skills of the right passage across the street.

It's sad to see mother grabbing her son's hand and running across the road to the red traffic light. Do not forget that the carriageway is not a playground for our children. It is worthwhile to teach them this, to instill rules of behavior on the road and to remember them yourself.

Thus, the basic duties of a pedestrian are defined in the rules of the road. They must be observed by all without exception and remember that it depends not only on convenience, but sometimes on life.
