Baden-Baden: attractions and landmarks of a German resort

Who has not heard this inviting word "Baden-Baden"? Germany, whose attractions include not only ancient fortresses, medieval towns and picturesque Rhine cliffs, but also thermal spas, is very rich in medicinal waters. Baden-Baden is a symbol of a respectable holiday with an eye to healing from various diseases. But it is not by the waters alone that this city is known. There are castles and monasteries, parks and theaters, there are various cultural festivals. But first things first.

Baden-Baden: tourist attractions

It is known that the casino and the kurhaus are the main sign places of the city. These buildings, built in the style of French classicism, have attracted visitors for more than two hundred and fifty years. In the complex they are the two largest entertainment centers. Initially, they were called upon to occupy the time of guests who came for treatment, but subsequently acquired an independent value. The kurhaus organizes balls, concerts and performances of stars. And in a casino that is considered the most beautiful in the world, gamblers are waiting for incredible adventures. It is not without reason that Dostoevsky spent his time here. But you need to be dressed accordingly - men must be with a tie. Nearby is the pavilion "Trinkhalle", where you can drink a mineral water and admire the frescoes based on local folklore.

Baden-Baden: historical sights

The city center itself is interesting - from the Leopold Square, four main streets are scattered by the rays. Not far from Goetheplatz, the Lichtenla alley with the famous Baden theater begins. Already mentioned casinos and kurhaus are also very close. From them the alley runs along the small but very picturesque river Oos right up to the most interesting place - the Likhtental women's monastery. It is open to visitors, and you do not have to pay anything for it. And in the monastery shop you can buy as souvenirs gizmos made by the hands of women who have dedicated themselves to God. But this is not the whole of Baden-Baden. Its sights are just beginning to open to you. The very Lichtenal alley is a street along which for three hundred years famous people, including emperors and kings, walked. But in the Middle Ages the city belonged to local margraves, and they built here two castles - the Old, whose ruins can be inspected, and the New one on Mount Florentinerger (it is now being rebuilt into a hotel). And on the territory of the modern bathhouse "Termas of Caracalla" you can see the remains of the baths, built by the ancient Romans.

Baden-Baden: cultural sights. Parks and museums

This stylish city has an original collection of museums. All of them breathe some special exclusivity. Modern art - Picasso, Make, Polok - is waiting for you in the collection of Frieder Burda. It is all on the same avenue. Not far from the museum you can visit the house of Brahms - the famous composer lived here for more than ten years, and his music in the city is very popular. Here, too, is the only collection in the world of the products of the popular supplier of the Russian Imperial Court of Faberge. The collection of three thousand artifacts costs about one and a half billion dollars. Well, and enjoying the art, you can walk around the city parks. As in many German resorts, beloved by the aristocracy of the 19th century, everything here is buried in greenery. The casino is surrounded by a beautiful Kurpark. The garden is so beautiful that tourists compare it with a fairy tale embodied in nature, and the Florentinenberg mountain looks especially charming in the spring, when lemons and oranges bloom - the microclimate so unique in the city.

In order not to miss any of the iconic places of the city, you will most likely need a map of Baden-Baden with sights. It can be taken at the Tourist Information Center or at any hotel where you stay.
