Looking for a delicious wine? Bastardo will not disappoint you!

Drink, which without exaggeration can be said "noble, luxurious, unique." Surprisingly rich taste, intoxicating aroma and magnificent ruby tone, distinguishing wine bastardo, make it a favorite not only for professional sommeliers, but also for connoisseurs of delicious and high-quality drinks.

World Recognition

Once the vineyards in which Bastardo grew, were quite popular, the vines with clusters of fragrant and very sweet berries of dark blue were common in the southern part of Europe.

Winemakers from Portugal were among the first to produce bastard wine, their colleagues from France and Spain also favored this sort of grapes. True, their drink, although produced from the same raw materials, had an excellent name. The French had a sonorous coward, and the Spaniards had a merensao.

The downside of the Bastardo grapes was that he was quite susceptible to illnesses, suffered from temperature changes, and frosts influenced him simply disastrously. All these factors were the reason that the number of wineries producing exactly the Bastardo wine was rapidly declining. Breeders tried to grow such grapes in the Caucasus, they were brought to Uzbekistan. However, the local climate did not fit the capricious plant. However, in the Crimea they coped with the task with a bang, and from the end of the nineteenth century Bastardo grape successfully grows on the territory of the peninsula.

Crimean wealth

It is worth noting that the Crimean Bastardo wines do not produce from the "purebred" grape variety. In 1966, at the Yalta Viniculture Institute, thanks to the fruitful and successful work of its director Pavel Yakovlevich Golodrigi, a new hybrid was created that was not yet named, but simply numbered 217. This grapes was obtained by crossing the same Bastardo variety from Portugal and the Georgian Saperavi.

This choice was not accidental. The Georgian variety is distinguished by good yield and resistance to bad weather, which took over the number 217, without changing the initial taste and flavor. The resulting variety was ultimately incredibly successful. Its properties surpassed all expectations, the plant produced a good harvest, it produced a great Bastardo wine, which is popular all over the world, besides, it regularly receives well-deserved awards and honors from recognized winemakers and gourmets from around the world.

feel the difference

It is noteworthy that from the grape variety Bastardo produce not only the same alcoholic beverage of the same name. Probably, this practice has remained only in the Crimean wineries, which there are several on the peninsula. Among the most famous, of course, are Massandra, Inkerman, Koktebel, Magarach, and Crimean Wines.

Among these producers, not everyone has a bastardo wine in their assortment. "Massandra" traditionally can boast of this sort in its cellars, in addition, without problems you can buy a bottle of dry "Bastardo Château Dulber", which offers consumers the company "Wines of the Crimea". Inkerman also left no admirers of a fragrant drink with a slight chocolate aftertaste, soft and velvety, as if created by Dionysus himself.

Different brands differ not only in the label on the bottle. Of course, the quality, or rather, its evaluation - is the business of professional sommeliers, who will point out the best bastard wine . The price for a drink starts from 200 rubles ("Wines of the Crimea"), 400 rubles will be needed for a bottle of Inkerman, and the most expensive will be branded bastardo from the cellars of Massandra (an average of 750 rubles).

A century and a half of quality

While Western winemakers prefer to make port wines from grapes of this kind, Crimeans could restore to it former glory thanks to a spill of fine bastardo. "Massandra" founded its own vineyards as far back as 1830 and successfully grows wine material of excellent quality. Another factor contributing to the fact that their wine is good taste, have their own cellars. The microclimate in them is maintained stable throughout the year, which is conducive to the fact that the drinks are kept under the right conditions for the entire maturity period. For bastardo it is especially important, this wine grade should be insisted in oak barrels for two years. In this case, the temperature regime will be ideal if its range does not exceed 10-15 ºС.
