Automatic gearbox: advantages over "mechanics"

Virtually every car enthusiast knows that repairing an automatic gearbox is very expensive. This costliness arises from the fact that all the nodes of such a transmission are a complex system, and in the event of a malfunction, the entire box usually has to be changed.

In addition, the automatic transmission is repaired for a long time and requires a great deal of effort. There are cases when repairs are impossible at all. In such situations, it is required to completely replace this part. And the cost of such a replacement is much higher than the cost of the vehicle itself. Proceeding from this, we can say that it is better to follow all the rules of operation, to diagnose the condition of this expensive part of the car qualitatively and in time, than to spend large sums of money for its repair or replacement.

Driving with a manual transmission usually should be accompanied by constant work with the clutch and, directly, the high-speed lever. This takes extra time and distracts the attention of the driver, so there was a need for a device that would get rid of it. And the automatic transmission appeared. You should know that the car, which has an automatic transmission, has only two pedals - gas and brake. To study its structure more deeply it is not necessary, as repair by own strength all the same will not make. Driving with an automatic transmission eliminates the work of the driver with the clutch.

In addition, this transmission has several modes.

1. Parking mode (P). In this position, the high-speed lever must be moved only when the vehicle is completely stopped and when it is fully locked by means of a handbrake.

2. Reverse mode (R). It is possible to switch it on while holding the brake pedal. Also, this mode can be used when the car is completely stopped. Otherwise, failures can not be avoided.

3. Neutral position (N). When the high-speed lever is in this position, the driver can start the engine. It is necessary to understand that the automatic transmission should not be transferred to the "neutral" mode while driving!

4. The driving mode (D). When the lever is positioned in this position, the car is in motion. Transmissions in this mode are automatically switched.

In addition, the automatic transmission device implies the use of two more modes - D2 and D3. They should be included on roads with ascent or descent. D3 - small slopes, D2 - severe road conditions.

Remember, if you need to switch the high-speed lever to some position, you should first stop the car completely. Otherwise, breakage is possible. In addition, if the stop occurs for a short time, for example, in traffic jams, then it is not necessary to switch from D mode to any other mode. It is enough just to depress the brake pedal. Well, always try to work your head! Another thing to remember is that if you started your driving experience with a car that has an automatic gearbox, then most likely you will not be able to drive cars with other types of transmission quickly - they quickly become accustomed to comfort.
