Acute lower back pain: causes and treatment

Every third man and one in four women suffer from back pain. The main cause of the appearance of back pain is a disorder in the structure of the spine. With excess weight, there is also often acute pain in the lower back. Those who lead a sedentary lifestyle may develop a disease of the ODA and, in particular, the spine.

Acute lower back pain: treatment

Pain that lasts less than 3 months is an acute pain. There is a high probability that it will disappear in a couple of weeks. If you follow the following recommendations, in most cases, acute pain in the lower back will be significantly reduced.

  1. It is necessary to arrange a holiday for 1-2 days. Rest should be in a comfortable position: lying on its side with a pillow between the knees or with a pillow under the knees on the back, on the floor. Long not be in the same pose. Every 2-3 hours, you should climb for 10-20 minutes, then relax again in a comfortable position.
  2. If necessary, you should take painkillers (acetaminophen), anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, ibuprofen). They help if taken regularly, and not when the pain intensifies.
  3. You can use a warmer or take a warm shower every 2-3 hours for 15-20 minutes, or apply ice every 2-3 hours for 10-15 minutes.
  4. As soon as possible, you should return to normal activity: if the bed rest is long, the muscles can weaken and the condition will worsen.

The best and simple physical exercise with low back pain is walking. The doctor can also recommend special exercises that strengthen the muscles that support the spine. Strengthening the muscles improves posture, maintains the body in balance and reduces the chances of injury.
