Actor Pyotr Shcherbakov: biography, filmography and personal life

This colleague of the Soviet era was associated with this remarkable lyceum of the Soviet era with the Russian hero, with a connoisseur of Russian poetry, and with a real professional in his field. Yevstigneyev himself said that "this is a very high monument."

His openness and benevolence did not leave anyone indifferent from the acting environment. Peter Shcherbakov was the soul of the company and a joker, although the press did not show too much attention to his person. But in vain, because the actor's talent Shcherbakov really was multifaceted. He was subject to the most diverse images, from a soulless official to the responsible chairman of the collective farm. The famous Peter Shcherbakov was a favorite of the legendary Martinson, and he enjoyed the glory of the actor as a young man. But he deserved it exclusively by his work. Actor Pyotr Shcherbakov is popular to this day, his role in the cinema is well known to the Soviet audience. What about it is known?

Facts from biography

Petr Shcherbakov, whose biography is interesting and noteworthy, was born on July 21, 1929 in the Russian outback, namely in the village of Pozdnyakovo in the Kaluga region.

He came from a working family, as his father, like many Soviet citizens, went to explore the virgin lands. His family by pure chance in the 30 years of the last century did not become victims of punitive detachments. After the war, the actor's father worked at the ZIL auto plant. After a while Peter Shcherbakov came to work for this enterprise, having got into the design office of the stamping and mechanical shop. In the evening he learned science in an auto mechanic technical school. Such a tough schedule, of course, was unaccustomed to a young man, but his perseverance and persistence in achieving the goal helped him to obtain a diploma in technical specialty.

Actor's path

However, soon the young man faced a difficult dilemma: to become a lyceum or to choose an engineer career. The idea of a theatrical scene appeared in Peter's head after he casually saw the GITIS building named after Lunacharsky, even without realizing where this theater university was.

He boldly went inside the school and asked one of the teachers to check whether he has the makings of an actor, not at all counting on a positive result.

As a result, an examination committee was created, and the young man came to the audition accompanied by a partner from the club, with whom he demonstrated the scene from Boris Godunov. The examiners were satisfied with the performance of the young man, who was invited to enter immediately for the second year, since at that time there was only a set for the director's faculty. Before Peter Ivanovich set the condition: for six months he must pass the exams for the first course.

Shcherbakov's fellow students also became two young people - Vadim Tonkov and Boris Vladimirov, who later became famous throughout the country thanks to their enchanting appearances in the image of Veronika Mavrikievna and Avdotya Nikitichny. Peter Ivanovich very quickly became friends with this couple: they worked together, put mini-sketches, spent leisure time. However, after a while the maestro's roads with Tonkov and Vladimirov disbanded.

Work in the theater

After receiving the diploma Shcherbakov Peter, the actor, even if newly-made, goes to Germany, namely to the theater of a group of Soviet troops.

For three years living abroad, he comprehends in practice the basics of theatrical mastery. For a young man it was a wonder to receive a salary in stamps. It was also unusual for him to see a fundamentally different way of life than in the USSR, which, of course, he was endlessly surprised.

Work in the Contemporary

In the late 50's, Shcherbakov Peter (actor) returns to his homeland and enters the troupe "Contemporary". At that time, this Melpomene temple was a haven for extraordinary personalities who wrote stories, wrote poems and painted pictures. The theater was run not by party officials, but by the actors themselves, who distributed their salaries on the principle of "how he worked, and how he fell." Here Peter Ivanovich becomes the leader of the party cell. The actor never used his post for the sake of material gain. With his own living space, Pyotr Shcherbakov, whose filmography has more than 60 roles in film, acquired not at once, living with his sisters and mother for a long time. In his new apartment, he perfectly coped with the role of a hospitable host, with pleasure accepting many guests and treating those with all kinds of food and treats. He loved noisy companies and was always glad when he was called at the front door.

Working in a movie

And, of course, Peter Ivanovich played an unimaginable number of bright roles in the cinema, having gained in this field a huge popularity among Soviet spectators. In 1958, director Yuri Egorov invites the actor to take part in the film "Volunteers", where the actor virtuously played the role of metro construction Vyacheslav Ufimtsev. The film had a fantastic success. Shcherbakov's partners on the set were real stars of Soviet cinema: Elina Bystritskaya, Mikhail Ulyanov, Leonid Bykov, Nonna Mordyukova. They were able to fully reflect all the qualities and characters of the heroes of that time. However, the "Volunteers" - this is not the movie where Petr Shcherbakov played the debut role. Films "The Story of the First Love", "They Met on the Road", "The Pages of the Past" and the short film "Pechopter" are also well known to the Soviet audience.

Facets of acting talent

At the same time, the actor often got roles, which, although they were filled with interesting material, were considered second-rate. But even they were remembered by the spectator, who immediately recognized him in Pyotr Ivanovich's large, colorful figure.

The older the actor became, the more often the directors trusted him with the roles of party careerists and Soviet civil servants. But Shcherbakov's talent had the widest range: even playing secretaries of regional committees, he could show one to strict, another - timid, and the third - decisive. Directors were happy to invite the actor to play and comedies. He phenomenally coped with the actor's task, forcing the audience to laugh heartily. The proof of this was the work of Peter Ivanovich in the films: "Big Change" (guest role), "Garage" (the role of Anikeeva's wife), "Office Romance" (Bublikov's role). As already stressed, Shcherbakov was subject to diverse images. The spectator still admires his talented work in films: "The Winter Evening in Gagra", "The Battle on the Road", "Days of Turbines", "Zero City".

A family

Peter Shcherbakov, whose personal life was not without drama, still managed to resist the problems and vicissitudes that occurred in his fate.

The fact is that his first wife passed away, shortly before that, having given birth to a boy. Pyotr Ivanovich brilliantly coped with the role of father and mother in one person for a while. He found the strength to marry a second time, and his new wife, Valentina Ivanovna, shared with the actor care for the upbringing of the offspring. Shcherbakov, the eldest of the soul, did not see in his son, who originally followed in the footsteps of his father, choosing an acting profession. He studied at the Moscow Art Theater School near Oleg Tabakov himself. But then the young man went to the USA and successfully works in Broadway theaters.

Pyotr Shcherbakov died on March 16, 1992. He was buried at the Vagankovo Cemetery in the capital.
