In 1941, in the course of persistent battles, 4 divisions of archers fought valiantly and distinguished themselves. It was they who were called Guards. This was the order of Joseph Stalin. In the period of bloody battles for the liberation of Soviet cities conquered by the Nazis, such a title was conferred on formations and military associations that distinguished themselves in service.
