World Dance Day. The history of the holiday with a great name

International Day of Dance is a celebration dedicated to the appropriate art form. The celebration is celebrated annually on April 29. In 1982, the festival was initiated by the International Dance Council of UNESCO. Choreographer, pedagogue and ballet dancer P.A. Gusev suggested to mark this event on the above-mentioned day. And the date was chosen in honor of the French ballet master, ballet reformer and theorist Jean-Georges Noverre, who was born on April 29 and became famous as the "father of modern ballet".

The creator of the ballet

The idea of creating a separate, independent of the opera, which included only a dance piece of the ballet, a performance, came to the head of the "Great Dupree" Jean-Georges Noverre. In his own innovative productions on the day of dance, Noverre embodied his ideas about the ballet in reality. In his eyes, the dance had to be based on dramatic development, complete representation with action. All the dance performances of this great man were integral, based on a serious theme, had the characters to be played, endowed with characters, and a finished plot.

According to the plan of the founders, the World Dance Day was to unite all the directions of this art, to become an occasion for their glorification, to rally people who love them, to let them communicate in one language - in the language of dance. Following the tradition, the Taiwanese choreographer Liin Hwai-ming, who is the artistic director and founder of the Dance Theater "Heaven's Gate", addressed the people with his speech on World Dance Day in 2013. This year in Russia colorful and bright flash mobs celebrated the holiday almost every city. Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Grozny, Samara, Moscow, Saratov and other cities met the international date in dance, organized various competitions and interesting festivals.
