Diagnosis is the main stage on the way to health, or How to treat allergy correctly

With whatever complaints and illnesses you do not apply to the doctor, at the first reception he will necessarily ask about the presence of an allergy. Today, these diseases are among the most common chronic ailments - roughly, they suffer almost half of the world's population.

To answer the patient's frequent question: "How are allergies treated?" - First of all, it is necessary to diagnose the disease, and only then to prescribe the treatment.

The first and extremely important stage in the diagnosis of allergies is a correctly collected medical history. Data, which the patient informs the doctor during the first reception, allow to direct further examination in the necessary direction.

There are direct and indirect signs that indicate sensitivity to allergens. Let us consider them in more detail. Symptoms of pollen allergy include the appearance of the disease in contact with flowering plants, the use of perfumes with flower pollen, the use of phytotherapy. Indirectly on food allergies may indicate exacerbations in the spring-summer-autumn period, the emergence of a reaction when eating honey, nuts, apples, pears, plums. The answer to the question of how to treat a food allergy is simple. Treatment consists in avoiding the product, which caused an undesirable reaction.

In order to correctly diagnose and inform the patient about how allergies are treated in a specific case, doctors need to identify hostile substances. In this specialist, skin tests, provocative tests, laboratory tests help.

Laboratory immunological test for allergy is the most tested method for determining specific IgE antibodies in blood serum. Laboratory methods can only establish the presence of a link of an irritating process, but do not reflect the whole picture.

Skin tests. Diagnosis of most allergic diseases involves the setting of skin diagnostic tests. Such methods of analysis are not very informative for extensive skin lesions.

Provocative tests. This is a method of detecting sensitization (sensitivity), based on the direct introduction of the allergen into the patient's body. This option is the most reliable, but also the most dangerous. The patient's reaction to provocation is unpredictable, therefore, strict testimony is required to conduct it.

Food allergy is the body's immune response to food. The true allergens are most often proteins coming from food. They are not destroyed by heat treatment, gastric juice and digestive enzymes. As a result, proteins overcome the walls of the intestine, get into the blood and get to the organs, where they cause allergic reactions. Cow's milk, chicken eggs, peanuts, hazelnuts, soybeans, seafood, fish, wheat are allergenic products. Regardless of the geographic region, the most frequent allergic reaction is noted for the chicken egg. The second place is occupied by cow's milk.

Virtually every person has a familiar allergic person. Allergy refers to diseases that change the lifestyle of a person and his family, because it can not be completely cured, you can only control the symptoms. The illiterate use of the concept of "allergy" and the lack of a sufficiently serious attitude towards the disease, ignorance of how specialists treat allergy, leads to the fact that patients for many years do not turn to doctors and engage in self-medication.
