Wildlife: chizh is a singing bird!

Sizh - a bird of the forest. This amusing creation has chosen both plain coniferous forests, and mountainous. You can meet them in the central, northern and eastern parts of Europe, in the East of Siberia and in Asia Minor.

Appearance

The male is painted in yellow-green color with a dark back, which has some pies of brown color, and a lighter breast. Wings are black-green with transverse stripes of yellow color. On his head flaunts a "cap" of black color and a dark "beard". The female does not have a "cap", it is all gray-green with more bright spots. It is interesting that the young chizh (photo of the male - in the article) is very similar to the female. These birds have a very sharp and strong beak, which they easily open the cones from the alder, and sharp claws help them to hold on even the thinnest branches and get the seeds, bowing their heads low.

Air "acrobats"

Sizh - the bird is sociable and extremely mobile. They fly very fast and wave-like. They are able to overcome huge spaces at high altitudes. Sometimes it is much easier to hear chizha than to see. Being in a pack, they constantly "talk" among themselves. From this it seems that a whole swarm of boilings is constantly "buzzing".

Nesting place

As we said above, the Čiž is a solely forested bird. Its main habitat is mixed forests, very rarely - deciduous. If you want to find a nest of these birds, then you will have to sweat pretty, because it will be very difficult to do. During the nesting period, the чиizhi behave very carefully. The female chooses the highest place for self-construction of a nest, carefully masking it. Outside, these are thin, twisted branches. At the same time, they must have a layer of cobwebs and cocoons of insects, dry grass and rootlets of lichens. Inside, the female lays it quite gently with grass, feathers and wool.
