Why do we need impregnation for wood?

The most popular material for construction is wood. It has been used since ancient times, not only for the erection of houses, but also for the manufacture of ships, household items and other various products. However, most modern people do not manufacture wood products, but this does not mean that they do not buy them for their own needs. This usually raises the question of how to impregnate a tree. This is due to the fact that most of these products are structures that require further processing, especially protection against moisture or various pests.

To process wood, before using it for its intended purpose, it is necessary to ensure that during the operation the finished product does not absorb moisture, which will lead to distortion and rapid failure. There are also such impregnations for wood, which include antibacterial components that prevent the appearance of mold and fungus.

Twenty years ago, for these purposes, the usual drying oil was used, which coped well with the task. However, it dried for quite a long time, had a characteristic smell and was lapped to the hands. It should also be noted that this tool can not penetrate deep into the structure of the processed material, and therefore such protection is superficial.

Modern impregnations for wood have a high degree of absorption. They penetrate into the material to a depth of several centimeters, which makes such processing more qualitative and reliable. At the same time they quickly dry and do not stick to their hands.

Unlike drying oil, modern impregnations for wood have good priming properties. They paint well, and some masters prefer to add a little dye directly to them. Thus, the product is painted a couple of centimeters inwards, which, with small damages during operation, helps to avoid visible scratches and even cracks.

The tree is used for various purposes and under different climatic conditions. Therefore, each individual product should be subjected to its own processing. Usually modern impregnations for wood have universal properties, but there are specialized materials that have special properties designed for specific conditions. For example, they are able to withstand salt water, refractory, possessing increased resistance to pests and even decorative (giving the tree the appearance of antiquity). Thus, modern impregnations have significantly surpassed the previously used linseed oil. They are reliable, qualitative and easy to handle.
