When Oilmen Day is celebrated in Russia

There are such holidays, which began to celebrate recently, but they are important for the country. One of them is Oilmen's Day, which falls on the first Sunday of September. It is annually awaited by workers in the oil, fuel, and gas industries.

From the history

To light a fire, people used firewood first, then coal. Oil our ancestors used for embalming mummies and in construction. In the 18-19 centuries, "black gold" was a long-lasting oil for church lamps. In Moscow, the first oil fluid was brought from Ukhta in the time of Boris Godunov. Then it was called "fire water".

The turning point in the history of the fuel industry was the construction of the first tower in Baku: the oil flowed by the river. Then it was cleaned of impurities and used for kerosene lamps.

Despite the development of the oil field , coal is used as fuel in many industries. This is due to the fact that it is not easy to get oil and gas: oil and gas fields are located in difficult natural zones (Siberia, Far East, Far North). Oilmen's Day is a celebration of courageous, strong, purposeful people who are able to overcome obstacles and work in harsh conditions.

Oil industry in Russia

Oil production is one of the most important branches of heavy industry. It includes drilling of wells, extraction of oil and gas, exploration of oil and oil and gas fields, transportation of oil through pipes.

Russia is one of the world's major oil and gas producers. Oilman's Day in Russia is a professional holiday of those specialists who constantly develop and introduce new ways of extraction, processing and transportation of oil. New oil and gas pipelines are being built on the territory of the country.

The extraction of black gold is needed not only to receive fuel: crude oil is sent to construction to strengthen barkhan sands, processed - into chemical production for the production of raw materials, motor oils. The product is also needed to create plastics, dyes, synthetic rubber, detergents.

In Russia, the hard work of people employed in this industry has always been valuable, and therefore it was decided to establish Oilman's Day. Every year, organizations congratulate their employees, award the best specialists. On television, films that tell of the hard share of the "black gold" miners are shown. The holiday unites people of this profession, helps them exchange experiences and serves as an occasion for meetings.

On a broad scale in the northern cities of our country, the Day of the Oilman is celebrated. What date? Always on the first Sunday of autumn. The date was not chosen by chance: September - the time of fuel procurement for the winter season. Surgut, Nefteyugansk, Nizhnevartovsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Pykht-Yakha and other settlements traditionally hold sports competitions, quizzes, performances of city groups. The administration invites entertainers to cities.

Oil, coal, gas are needed for every country. Once the holiday was celebrated on the territory of the USSR. After the break-up, some states retained the solemn date, others postponed the next day. Together with us they celebrate the Day of Oil Workers in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova.
