What is a pasyut in biathlon

In the framework of major international competitions, such kinds of races are held: individual, sprint, mass start, relay race, as well as pursuit or pasyut. The latter is considered a relatively young species and was included in the program of championships and olympiads only in 1996. In order to understand what a pasyut, it is necessary to understand the rules, similarities and differences from other types of biathlon.

The pursuit race is inextricably intertwined with the sprint. Athletes go to the start strictly in the order in which they finished the sprint. The one who won the sprint, starts the pasyat first, the rest - with a delay equal to the results of the sprint competition. In total, the pursuit lasts about half an hour with sixty starters. That is, the athletes start in the order of places occupied by all participants in the previous qualifying race.

Basic rules of the race

Athletes who hold a high position in previous competitions, have the highest chances of winning in this competition. Regarding the regulations, running for a distance of 10 km assumes a female pasyut, men, in turn, run 12.5 km in the pursuit race.

Women shoot after each passed 2 km, men - after 2.5. There are four shooting ranges at the distance: two times from the standing and lying position. At the first two milestones, shooting takes place, the third and the fourth stand. For each failure there is a penalty circle. The competition is different and the fact that the racers run in different techniques. At the first stage, athletes run on skis with classical style, and on the second stage - free.

Difference of male pasjute

As already noted, for men in pasyute set their own rules, which significantly complicate the strong sex competition compared to the women's pursuit race. They run a greater mileage, and the distance between the firing lines is also greater.

Describing what a pasyut, it should be noted: this kind of biathlon competitions in general requires the manifestation of truly masculine qualities. In these competitions it is required not only to shoot well and quickly to run - you need to be persistent psychologically here. After all, the nervous system is experienced by competitors, each of which has its own tactics in the race. One of them is distinguished by the ability to shoot well, the other is trying to get around the competitor at a distance, and the third, on the contrary, is holding back, trying to get the competitor out of balance.

It is believed that the male pasyute is very strenuous and spectacular. In men, breakouts from the bottom in the top three thanks to the pursuit of the race happen much more often than women.

Features of the pursuit

This kind of race passes quickly enough and easily fits into the television broadcast. Real connoisseurs, who know what pasyut, note that of all biathlon competitions this race is most fascinating for the audience. Thanks to the constant shooting range, the sprinters change ceaselessly the leaders. And the fans just have to follow the race, because the order of the biathlete after the penalty circle corresponds to his place in the competition.

Shooting in the order established in the pasyute makes the competition even more impressive, because it gives an opportunity to the sportsman, who is singled out by shooting from any one position, to show his skill and to move to the first places. When a biathlete comes to the finish, this determines his place in the final protocol. That is, in pasyute, the key to success is precisely the accuracy and tactical skill of athletes.

Today it is impossible to imagine such a sport as biathlon without a race of persecution. Male pasyut, as well as female, thanks to its entertainment, keeps the fans in suspense until the last minute.
