Sable hunting

Sable is considered the most valuable representative of fur-bearing animals. It belongs to the Kunya family, and in its structure, appearance is very similar to the ordinary forest marten, although somewhat smaller. In addition, he has a very silky coat, and the tail is shorter.

Due to the ruthless shooting of sables in the tsarist years, their numbers were reduced to a minimum, but thanks to strict supervision, its population was restored. The most valuable representative is Barguzin sable.

Sable hunting is allowed only with a special license. Because of the fact that in Siberia recently its livestock has increased, fishing for these valuable animals has become simpler. So much so that during the season you can get about three dozen sables even to a novice hunter.

Many today began to conclude contracts on the supply of fur skins to procurement bases. Therefore, the hunt for sable became very popular and profitable.

Sable are numerous in the taiga of Altai, Sayan, and Baikal region. It lives both on low decays, and on high-altitude tracts. This furry animal cedar taiga prefers other forests.

Today, hunting for sable is made with Siberian and Evenki Laika, which very gambit take the trace of this animal, and going out on it, is pursued until they are driven into a mine or a tree. For this case, hunters take a net with them, which immediately surround the place where the victim is hiding.

Sable is kicked out with a probe, as smoking is not accepted.

Having jumped out, the animal immediately falls into the litter. And then the hunter in special gloves takes his prey.

Traps on sable - sweeps - are installed with the help of "panther", special sticks. To the top are tied bells, and so that the animal does not slip under the sweep, its lower edges should be dug into the snow and trampled down.

Sometimes the sable is hidden in a hollow. In this case, the hole in the tree is plugged, and then, tapping the trunk gradually, find where it ends. Then a few holes are cut in the trunk and, pressing the animal to the end, it is mined, pushing it with his hand in the mitten.

And when there is a lot of snow, and hunting for sable with dogs is impossible, hunters begin to catch with the help of traps and other samolov. The most frequently used are the drip stones next to the hog-feeder.

Sable is a lot in the tracts, and therefore hunters construct in such places small square sbrubki height of about a meter. The top of the frame is very tightly closed with plaques, and in the holes are cut through small holes, into which the animals could easily penetrate.

Inside the frame, put coarse or goat. To sable easier to find such a trough, hunters arrange a bait in the taiga: they drag a piece of meat tied behind a rope. All traces lead to the scab and end on the spot. A furry valuable animal, having smelled the smell, quickly finds the crook and eagerly accepts the dainty hidden in the trough. The same goes for food and the rest.

When they begin to actively resort to the trough, the hunter is alarming on their nearby trails. To place traps on a sable it is necessary in those places where the animal needs to jump over an obstacle.

And so that the prey does not drag the trap, the latter is tied with wire. Self-needles must be carefully masked and covered with snow.

That the rest of the inhabitants of the taiga, especially wolverines and jays, do not spoil the sables trapped in traps and samovols, tackle should be inspected no later than a day later. A hunter must strictly follow the rules established for hunting these valuable animals of the family of cunies.

As a rule, the hunt for sable begins immediately on the first snow, lasting two or three months, before Epiphany frosts.
