What is the Hutchison effect and whether it can be repeated

John Hutchison - Canadian engineer-inventor, tried to repeat many experiments Nikola Tesla. In the process of studying longitudinal electromagnetic waves, the scientist quite accidentally made a shocking discovery, reaching a strange effect (which was later named after him). Unfortunately, the engineer could not repeat his experiment successfully, thanks to which the Hutchison effect was surrounded by all sorts of rumors and even associated with mysticism.

This phenomenon has become interesting at the same time, physicists, ufologists and esotericists. The Hutchison effect is perceived by scientists not as one thing, but as several overlapping phenomena, as a result of which various objects, which are under the influence of electromagnetic waves, behaved quite unexpectedly. Thus, several large (and durable) pieces of metal were torn in such a way that they were made of soft plastic. Heavy bulky objects broke away from the surface and rose into the air, some pieces of metal heated up to the melting point (without an additional source of heat), others completely melted with wood, which is difficult to explain scientifically.

Tesla was an outstanding man (he wrote a lot of books, not one film was shot), and his whole life, including experiments with electricity, was imbued with mysticism, mysteries and magic. Hutchison carefully studied the works of Tesla, tried with maximum accuracy to recreate the prototype of his laboratory and repeat the experiments.

The result of his activities were several successful repetitions of Tesla's experiments, but science has not remembered his name for that. The Hutchison effect, which many physicists still can not comprehend and explain, was truly amazing. It is only known that strange phenomena occurred in the presence of several Tesla coils with a sufficiently high voltage, under the influence of electromagnetic forces. However, since the experiments of other scientists did not lead to the desired result, there is an opinion on the interaction of electromagnetic fields with other, yet unexplored forces and phenomena.

Many physicists generally have a rather skeptical view of this phenomenon, they consider the Hutchison effect a profanity and say that it is based not on scientific works, but on the replacement of concepts. In other words, this is not the result of a scientific experiment, but only a trick. This view is supported by several undeniable facts. First, this is the way in which the Hutchison effect was obtained. The scheme of the experiment as such was not given to the general public. Secondly, the process itself was described more "on the fingers", with a violation of the mass of generally accepted concepts and principles. And, thirdly, nobody has been able to repeat the experience to the present day.

The nature of damage to objects subjected to experiments is difficult to explain from the point of view of modern physics. The metal seemed to spill out spontaneously without the action of any external forces, and the tree was simply absorbed, as if drowning in a liquid. Perhaps this experiment in the future will become the basis for eye-popping discoveries, not only in electrodynamics, but also in other areas of physics?
